Obviously nobody on this forum hates spongebob, but whenever I watch an episode of one of 90's nicktoons like rugrats and Rocko's Modern Life, (I like to read the comments section to see what people thought of the episode) and a few people express how they love the 90's nicktoons but they hate spongebob. Spongebob is a 90's nicktoon, it premiered on May 1, 1999, but a lot of people don't like it. I loved all the 90's nicktoons but i also like spongebob too, one time i responded cause someone said spongebob deserves to be cancelled, I said that Spongebob is the only good nicktoon left (besides Fairly OddParents, but the new episodes of that show suck) and they replied back saying that spongebob sucks cause it's humor is retarted and Rocko's Modern Life uses intelligent humor. Spongebob has similar humor to all the 90's nicktoons, cause it uses adult humor that little kids wouldn't get and it's funny, like when spongebob was watching TV and he was leaning forward in his seat towards the TV really excited and when Gary walked in, he quickly changed the channel, implying that he was watching porn or something like that. What are your thoughts as to why some people hate Spongebob?

90's are the nostalgic times no one can replace. I think people hate Spongebob because they think it's too new now. It might obviously be their opinions.

Yeah, i loved the 90's nicktoons too, but i think most people that hate spongebobthink spongebob replaced those shows and got some of them cancelled which is unfair to say. Also, Spongebob technically is a 90's nicktoon cause it aired on May 1, 1999, i was surprised to find out that it aired on TV before Rocket Power which is also one of my favorite cartoons.

HEy! Mmost of the new FOP episdes are decent! They can0t be compared with the golden era, like Spongebob's case, but a lot are good (Poltergeeks, Old Man and C-, Balance of Flour, Manic Mom-Day...).

Yeah i liked those FOP episodes you named and the new FOP episodes aren't as bad as people say, but episodes like lights out, take and fake, one man banned, and Stupid Cupid are terrible.

I don't think that all '90s cartoons were GREAT, but I think a lot of the young adults here grew up with those shows, which is why they've gotten more respect. I personally don't see how shows like "CatDog" and "The Angry Beavers" can be considered better or more intelligent than "SpongeBob". Another '90s show I find extremely overrated is "Ren & Stimy". I mean, the show's use of gross-out/over-the-line humor is just retarded (pardon my French) in my honest opinion.

Overall, a lot of people who prefer the old Nicktoons classics over SpongeBob simply choose not to accept the show's uniqueness that has brought it a wider audience.

Well SpongeBob is a good show (Seasons 1-3 and a little of the others at least). The people who hate him are probrably tired of him airing most of the time (where I live he appears a lot more then the others. But he's popular so of course). The new episodes aren't as great as the old ones, either.

Well said. I like angry beavers and CatDog but a lot of other nicktoons are better. Ren and Stimpy was good in the 1st 2 seasons before John Kricfalusi was fired but it is extremely overrated just like the simpsons, I liked doug but i never even to this day watch it on a regular basis. Rugrats was really good but it got really boring when kimi and dil were added, aaahh real monsters was good but not one of my favorites, the only nicktoons that i feel are really close to spongebob's level are Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold, Rocket Power, and The Fairly OddParents. Did you know Stephen Hillenburg who created Spongebob took over as creative supervisor on the fourth season of Rocko?

Yeah, I agree on that, but don't say "the new episdes of that show suck", because like 40% of the new ones suck. In other topic, my fav 90s nicktoons are Rocket Power and Hey Arnold. The others I enjoyed them, but were nothing specail. Rocko, I was very young when I first saw it and didn't appritiate it, now on the reruns on Nick Uruguay I'm enojying it more, like Angry Beavers. Catdog was fun too.

I didn't really mean it that way, just the ones that i named and what? You guys get Rocko in Uruguay. They should show Rocko again in America, oh well I don't let it bother me though cause I have all the episodes of Rocko's Modern Life on my psp.

In Nick Uruguay, on Sat and Sun after 12 pm, they show classics like Arnold, Rocko, angry Beavers, and Rocket Power, Rugrats, and there is a block called Nicktoons on Mon-Fri from 11:30pm to 12pm were they show a SB segment and a random Nicktoon segment. SOmetimes it's FOP, sometimes ZIM, catdog..

CatDog first aired less than a year before Spongebob, so how can you consider that a 1990's nicktoon and Spongebob a 2000's one?

I know Spongebob is a 90's Nicktoon but most people don't consider it a 90's Nicktoon cause it didn't get really popular until it's second season in 2000.

Most of the CatDog episodes aired or were made during the '90s.

I thought it was popular in it's first season.

Spongebob was pretty popular in it's first season and had a decent fanbase, but it's popularity jumped incredibly when the second season premiered with episode Something Smells/Bossy Boots. I wasa fan right from the very beginning of the show.

Yeah, but most of the 2000s episodes were scattered.

I actually don't remember new CatDog episodes airing that well.
