They're both innovative and something for all ages.
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends- What other show has a plot about imaginary friends you can see in a big mansion? the characters are new too: Cheese, Bloo, Wilt, etc. Animation reminds me somewhat of Japanese style. The humor gets funnier after another.
Spongebob- What other show has a plot about a fry-cooking sponge with random marine creatures and a squirrel? something in Spongebob always takes you by surprise. There's a character for everyone to relate with.
What I love about both shows is they both use clever puns. They're both kid shows that don't have to be like "South Park", "Simpsons", or "Family Guy" to be funny.
