Possibly his voice changed because maybe the producers of the show wanted the voice to be more high. Also another thing that it might be that Tom Kenny got older or his voice changed.

Didn't they also have to modify the voice a bit, maybe they changed the method.

God!!! I hate his new voice. It started with the movie, and the 4th season.

They probably did it to fit the child theme of the show.

To tell you the truth, I haven't noticed any difference with his voice until people here on TV.com mentioned it. I highly doubt they would make his voice go higher just for the show. He probably just forgot how to do it because of when the show was on hiatus.

not much. People just say that it's gone slightly higher.

I did notice it with the beginning of the fourth season but I didn't think much about it until my boyfriend said something to me. He has begun to get turned off to the show because Spongebob's voice has changed a bit. It is a good way to distinguish which season is being shown though

Another good thought about that his voice changed could be that maybe the creators decided to modify it, so it could attract younger viewers.

How would a voice change attract younger viewers?

Well, because if his voice sounds mature enough the younger viewers would think that the show is for older ages, and the voice probably changed for that reason to make SpongeBob with a happier voice for the younger viewers.

dumb_person1, why would they do that? That doesn't make any sense.
