SpongeBob takes place under the sea right? I understand its a cartoon, but come on. There are no way fires can happen under the sea.

I understand that, but I guess the writers really like to break the laws of physics and not have a lot of things making sense. SpongeBob isn't the only show though when you think about it. It happened in FOP too. And as for SpongeBob:

In SpongeBob fire turned off when Patrick was saying "Hey If we're underwater how can there be a?" After patrick says that there isn'tany fire the flames go out on the firewood, but then they flames appear again after Patrick steps on the firewood and shouts "That's it!" After him and SpongeBob fought over candy bars. Strange isn't it? I'd like to know why this keeps happening in cartoons. You are right, Its mind-boggling seeing fire underwater, same thing with being able to drown in Goo Lagoon when they are already underwater.

Too unrealistic you think? Yeah, and everything else is fine.

It makes the show funnier in my opinion.

Umm we'll a lot of things are un-realistic in this show. Why dont u question the fact that fish can talk? or that a Squirell can build rocket ships and live in a huge dome underwater?

I have a letter by Stephen Hillenburg that comes with one of the season DVDs and he says:

    Stephen Hillenburg wrote:
I spent a sleepless night in my bunk not wondering if the world was flat and are we just gonna fall off the edge, but whether an entire show could be based on a rectangular sponge... would they think he's a piece of unsersea cheese? Is it ok for an octopus to have only six legs? And if you show fire underwater, will everybody mutiny and turn the channel?!

Let's not make Steve worry more
