I have three thoeries on why Spongebob's voice became high-pitched:

1.) The Effects of Aging: As Tom Kenny (voice of Spongebob) gets older, his voice becomes slightly different.

2.) Tom Wanted to Make Spongebob More Child Oriented: Tom decides to adjust Spongbob's voice to try to attract more younger kids.

3.) Tom's Getting Tired of Spongebob: Spongebob Squarepants has gone on long enough and Tom decides to make the yellow guy's voice more higher-pitched to try to nail the coffin for Spongebob.

Which thoery do you think is the most accurate?

1 or 2. If he hated doing the voice, he would have quit

I think so too...his voice gives me a migraine now, I have to either grab a vitamin or drink something after hearing it. Did you know they now sell Chia Spongebobs? CHIA SPONGEBOBS!!! Oh the horror...when will it end?

Congradulations for being in the wrong forum to discuss like that.

It's gotta be age and the amount of strain being put on his throat.

In 2005 Tom Kenny was doing a massive amount of voice acting, so when Fear Of A Krabby Patty aired you have your voice change.

I assume it's strain of doing it so much he has to do it higher or something. Not too bothered though - I never seem to notice the difference
