If you're a both SpongeBob and Simpsons fan (like me and that70sguy92) did you notice there are a lot of Simpsons references in Spongebob? Like the parents in I'm With Stupid are a knockoff of Marge and Homer, In Pranks a lot when SpongeBob sprayed Patrick's stomach and said, "No guts no glory!" Bart did the same thing to Homer in one episode, in "Breath of Fresh Squidward" when SpongeBob said, "do you notice something different about Squidward?" and Patrick said, "Maybe it's about his new glasses?" they said the same thing on a Simpsons episode when Marge said, "do you notice something with Bart?" and Homer said, "Maybe it's his new glasses?"And Ceplapod Lodge is Identicleto the simpsons episode, Homer The Great.

First it was Family Guy and now it's SpongeBob copying The Simpsons? Did anyone notice?

It's inspired by and references The Simpsons, yes, but it doesn't copy it.

Those seems things more like generic things that any comedy would say than a direct copy of The Simpsons.

As a Simpsons fan () I do see where you're coming from, but some of those just seem like generic jokes that you could see in any show. And honestly, any show has 'copied' The Simpsons once or twice. It's been around for twenty years. Try not to do something they've done.

Most of these things are only references. Others, coincidences.

Then how do you explain, "Ceplapod Lodge"? The whole episode totally ripped "Homer The Great"

Yeah. I don't see how that was a rip-off. It falls under the category as one of those generic things that could be seen on any show.

It may not have been fully identicle to Homer The Great, but there were many similar scenes such as Squidward and Homer having to get naked, passing an aniciation, the suits were similar, and so on. Also another example of a Simpsons reference was in "Hocus Pocus" when SpongeBob said, "googelie moogelie!" and you know who says that!

I just did . What do you expect? I'm a huge Simpsons fan! But no offense SB fans but to be honest, I like to watch The Simpsons more than SpongeBob because they've got better plots and characters.

    1. Nudity is a very common joke in both shows, and many other comedies.

    2. Passing an officiation is something most clubs make you do.

    3. The club suits were quite generic looking club suits.

I wouldn't be surprised if the SB writers are occasionally inspired by The Simpsons, but then again, what comedy isn't?

SpongeBob vaguely copies the Simpsons, but there are some similarities.

Although I was watching Nick today, and they had a commercial about a Back & The Barnyard episode about a new farm security system. Reminds me A LOT of one of the Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror episodes.

Maybe it's not SpongeBob that's copying the Simpsons, but Nickelodeon in general?

Next thing you're gonna say is that South Park and Family Guy DON'T copy The Simpsons!

SpongeBob SquarePants ISN'T copying off of The Simpsons. The Simpsons is a very old cartoon, and many shows today are influenced by it. SpongeBob SquarePants, along with maybe some other Nick shows, are some of those shows.
