Being that this is the SpongeBob SquarePants forum, surely we need a topic completely made for any discussions on The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.

So, to start, what's everyone's favorite part?

I think the funniest part is the Thug Tug section, but I probably like "Now that We're Men" the most. It just feels like such a great and courageous SpongeBob moment.

It's not much of the movie, but technically this is part of it. One of my favorite parts is actually "The Best Day Ever", played during the credits with an ocean background. It has a nice feeling, especially as closure for the movie. When I think of "The Best Day Ever" song I think of this moment at the end of the credits, not that filthy episode dedicated to it in the fourth season.

i think he was referring to you trashing The Best Day Ever.

anyways, i loved this movie. the ending was kind of weird (the whole goofy goober rock song), but the rest of the movie made up for it.

    10/10

    I wouldn't rate it a 10/10 as a movie, really.

I don't if it's because I'm hopelessly obsessed with SpongeBob, but this is my all-time favorite movie! and of course I give it a 10000000/10!

One of my favorite parts is when it's about to end and SpongeBob says "Manager? This is the happiest day of my life!" and then Ocean Man starts, I love love love love that part. When I play it on my DVD I repeat it over and over again!

Despite being a senior of high school, I still have not ever drank, and don't intend on it. I'm one of those goodies in real life that avoids parties having to do with bad stuff.

But anyway, despite that, you can't help but like that ice cream part. It shows SpongeBob's last moments of real adult humor before season four came out, lowering the intelligence level of the show.

By the way, eventually I'll be giving my actual thoughts on SpongeBob himself in the movie, compared to his appearances in the show.

Well I know it's been a while, but finally, I found the time to type this up. It's my view on SpongeBob.

I think that the movie is SpongeBob's best appearance. Yep, he's even better here than in the television series.

    Why?

Because look at him as a whole. Think about what he goes through in the movie. He's lost. He's trying to find his place in the movie, who he is. SpongeBob goes on an adventure to prove that he's not a kid. He doesn't want people calling him a kid and telling him that he can't do something. He wants to help his friends. In the movie, SpongeBob is going through STRESS.

"I'm ready. Depression. I'm ready. Depression."

Now think about the movie itself. What audience is it directed at? It's too mature for little kids, so what is it?
Of course, the movie is directed at older kids, and TEENAGERS, like most people here.

"But I'm not a kid! I can do it!"

Now think about teenagers themselves. What do they go through before becoming adults? Don't they think about things like their future and WHO THEY ARE? Don't teens often get patronized? How many teenagers out there go through STRESS with different difficulties?

"I've been through a lot in the past six days five minutes twenty and a half seconds. And if I've learned anything during that time, it's that you are who you are."

After his adventure, SpongeBob learns to just be who he is: a kid.

How about situations that teenagers go through? I myself am one of those people who never have and never will bow into peer pressure, but so many others out there do. Parents will constantly tell their kids "be yourself". BE YOUSELF: WHO YOU ARE.

In the end, what advantages does SpongeBob have in the episodes that he lacks in the movie? He's more consistently funny? He has a deeper voice?

Sure, I doubt there are any real talking sponges out there, but when you get down to it, doesn't SpongeBob have many qualities in the movie that the main audience can relate to? I don't see SpongeBob in the series as quite that level. Heck, as much as I like the SpongeBob in the series, I must admit that there are times where he is one dimensional, particularly post season three episodes.

So that's my opinion about SpongeBob, and it should show why he's my third favorite character of all time.

Compared to SpongeBob episodes I would rate it a ten.
Compared to other movies I would rate it an eight.

Awesome review and statement, Talonmalon. I totally agree with you on the SpongeBob "personality evolution" thing. And I can relate with you, because most kids our age are into drinking and bad stuff and staying out of bad crowds is hard, but I haven't failed.

What idiot would rate it that? And if thats true they must have cut out a loooooooooooooooot of scenes. Of Course its not true though, I mean theres no way a Tv Show thats rated Y7 can make a movie Rated PG-13.

    WHAT?!?

That is impossible! Why would Nickelodeon ever consider doing something that stupid? If they did that, they would have not made as much as it ended up doing

PG-13, this is spongebob. It's only rated PG. The movie is wicked. I liked the now that were men, it was good and funny when he called them monsters.
