Some weeks ago I saw a SpongeBob's documentary and it said that Stephen Hillenburg is not directing anymore since season 4!!!...

    IS THAT TRUTH?!?!?!

If it is...I guess that IS the reason why SpongeBob is not the same!!!

So...I think Stephen Hillenburg should direct again the show!!!

    What do you think?

well ive noticed in alot of the not so good episodes were directed or supervised by Paul Tibbit and on the documentary Stephen hillenberg left him in charge. Paul Tibbet has come up with some good epsiodes but i wonder where stephen hillenberg is. the classic epsiodes were done by him the show needs hi, directing again

He's still contributing to the show, but hasn't been in charge since 2004.

Good to hear from you again, spongebobfan_17!

Stephen Hillenburg is currently just the show's executive producer. He still reviews episodes and gives suggestions, but he is no longer part of the main writing talent.

Either for personal reasons, immediate 60 episode limit, or to avoid pressure and spend more time with his family

Oh yeah, I do miss Stephen Hillenburg. The show without him has no adult humor, and no adult humor in this show makes crap like The Fairly Odd Parents, Flapjack, Total Drama island and others look very adultish.

What's so bad about those shows you mentioned? In Flapjack's case, I'm a top contributor. No offense, and none takin.'

I understand that maybe he wants to take a break and have time for his family...but this is the proyect of his life, isn't? I think he can find a moment for everything, so he can work as a director and have time to relax and being with his family...

    We need him back!!!

Why does everybody say the show's BAD now, it's still the best show Nick has to offer I guess. It;s not BAD, it just changed a little, just like many other series.

Season 7 is amazing, and FYI, Hillenburg didn't write EVERY episode for the first 3 seasons. Only a number of episodes actually.

Although I'd love it if Hillenburg came back, the show's not that bad without him. It's certainly better than the rest of the shows Nick has. I think it just needs a few tweaks here and there, and it's got plenty of watchability.

Think he had both of them while on his "break"?
