    How come in To Save a Squirrel they are just black dots?

    Because it was like a way to make him look tired and on a bad condition, the same way Squidward's pupils were round by the last scenes of Squid's Day Off.

    Weren't they just black at some point in the laughbox episode (forgot the name)?

    I thought they're black at some point when he's crying (which is pretty much the whole episode! .).
