Guys ive been thinking of maki ng a topic about the graphic violence on this show, because its seriously out of line. This is suppose to be a show for kids any age including little kids, i dont think its a good idea to put so much violence on this show.

For example: in house fancy when the table runs over squidwards nail and rips off.

Another example: in spongebob meets the strangler, spongebob puts his kleets on the stranglers eyes.

what kind of example is this show if you put ravaging violence instead of comedy? i dont expect any comments i just want you guys to read this and think about it.

Some shows can be as violent as they can be funny, some shows can be more violent than they are funny, and other shows can be more funny than they are violent.

You have to lighten up a bit. Were you around back in the old cartoon days? Cartoons have always used violence, and it has always been funny.

Some people are so quick to think that this show will give kids ideas.

YES!!!!! I totally agreee!!!!!! especially with the house fancy nail ripping-thing, that totally grossed me out, they should make spongebob funny and not violent, they should really drop the violence, it's not funny at all, it's not a comedy show anymore, and if they wanna keep it this violent, they shoudl consider airing it on adult swim or some other adult block, but not for kids anymore.....

The show is rated TV-Y7. It's not like this show is aimed at toddlers or anything. Besides, the violence in SpongeBob is nothing compared to the history cartoons with violence though aimed at kids.

Watch Family Guy, The Simpsons, King Of The Hill, Futurama, American Dad, South Park, Robot Chicken and almost every other violent animated show out there and THEN talk to me about violence. There are a LOT worse things than SpongeBob that are violent and animated.

Besides back in the day there were cartoons that had EXCESSIVE violence that was aimed towards kids. Tom and Jerry, Loony Toons, Pixie and Dixie etc.

I miss the days were kids arn't sheltered from every little thing.

Yeah, but that stuff really wasn't graphic. The toe nail thing was totally disgusting. You could see the blood.

Yes, the show have violence, but what show don't have it? The only shows without violence like in SpongeBob are shows for LITTLE KIDS (like for babies to 6 years kids) and that's because they're really little, but in shows like SpongeBob more people of others ages see it, so I don't think you want to see to SpongeBob doing things like show for babies and in the show, SpongeBob don't kill to anyone, so I don't think the problem of "violence" is really big.

How old are you? You don't have to answer that seriously, but have you been watching cartoons for a while? Have you seen how violent some of the older shows have been? "Looney Toonys" anyone? Sometimes Looney Toons was utterly barbaric. Even Mickey Mouse was guilty of violence. And I don't have to even mention Donald Duck. Spongebob is like Barney compared to those older cartoons. Plus, I think you can find other things, that kids are exposed to, to criticize.

EXACTLY!! I mean, of course cartoons have always been violent and stuff, but way back when like take Hanna Barbera for example, u could never see the "blood" or anything dripping off, when they got hit by a hammer, now could u? i haven't. a bit of violence, ok, big deal, but the toenail thing was too graphic.

I haven't seen House Fancy yet so I wouldn't know...but if it's one thing I agree on, is that Carttons were even more violent in the old days, so its been around for quite a while, besides...haven't you heard of Cartoon Violence? Some Animated Video Games have it too, and its labeled. But I do find the Toe Nail Thingy unnessecary if it actually showed Blood, where older Viewers find that not a big deal, it may be frowned upon by younger viewers and their Parents.

Sheesh... you really have to lighten up about the cartoon violence thing. Like many other poeple said on this thread, there have been worse cartoon shows. It's not that much violence they're showing anyway, so they can show it and pass it off as a kids show still!

Although, just because they can show that kind of violence doesn't mean they should. I mean, look at the older seasons of Spongebob! They had only little to none violence and was comic gold! Nowadays... it seems to be low-brow gross out humor and pointless violence, and those two things are probably big factors on why the show just isn't good anymore. CHANGE BACK TO THE GOOD COMEDY!
