No offense, but I don't want to sign that. I truly resent that people STILL don't appreciate all the hard work going into SpongeBob. Beggers can't be choosers!

Beggers can't choosers? Where did that come from? And how can you say no offense to someone when you say that you truly resent people that don't align themselves with your opinion on Spongebob?

Things, including TV shows, evolve into new stages, new phases, new eras. The fact that this newer era of the show (let's face it, it's not even new anymore) is not of the likes of some people doesn't mean everybody hates it or that there is an actual way of changing it. I've come to appreciate the new format of the show and I'll like it no matter what, as much as I prefer the older era. For that, I'll pass on this petition, which I doubt will help even if you get 100 signatures, you can't change a show just like that.

    That will not change anything.

Hey, I didn't say you had to sign it. I just said it was a petition for those who didn't like the way SpongeBob is these days to voice their opinions. It's cool if you all don't want to sign it. I'm not forcing you to. And I respect the opinions of everyone who thinks that SpongeBob is fine the way it is or hasn't changed a bit. Don't worry, everyone. It's cool.

DC-Dude and JellyFishJammer probably put it the best. All great shows have had changes in quality and format (just look at The Simpsons episodes from nowadays compared to the classic ones from the early '90s).

If you don't like SpongeBob's new format, that's just your opinion and I'm totally okay with that. However, IMHO, the writers have been giving it a great effort and, after watching the majority of season 7, I can say that they're not about to let us down. Besides, if this petition wins, what are they going to do? Force every single writer that has worked for the show to come back even though they've moved on to other projects? Impossible.

On another note, why do people keep complaining about the "gross-out humor" in the recent episodes? I mean, Seasons 1-3 had just as many grossout jokes as the new ones do (Squidward getting cut in half, SpongeBob's entire front skin ripping off, The Strangler getting cleats in his corneas, etc, etc, ETC!)

So yeah, I'm gonna have to pass on this petition as well.

I agree that the gross-out humor was always there, but now my opinion is that they're making it more serious than it used to be. You wouldn't see SpongeBob's thumb shooting pus into Mr. Krabs' face in an episode from Seasons 1 - 3, would you?

Again, I'm just making my point clear.

I guess you have a bit of a point there. But then again, you're using an example from an episode that a majority of users here (including me) have despised more than most other season 6 episodes. Unless part of your point is that it's these type of scenes that make some of the episodes so terrible.

the main point is, even if we did want to sign it, it doesnt change the fact that seasons 4-7 got their success from the millions of kids that watch this show, and appreciate the newer episodes, and i will always love spongebob no matter. i could picture myself older with my own kid, and i'd tell him the story of a sponge named bob, unless the show is still a huge hit and is still running to that day!

    Yeah, you're right.

I totally agree. SpongeBob's still getting phenomenal ratings, despite it having waht some people consider a drop in quality.
