well, most of the new spongebob episodes that aired in 2006 were bad, except krusty towers, but this year looks promising. monday, there's gonna be 3 all-new half-hours with all of them being patrick-related episodes, so i think they'll be funny. so tune in and see, it looks promising.

Yes when I watch a new epsoide I don't even laugh anymore pretty sad.

I think it started losing it's touch right around 2005-2006 when "Good Neighbors" aired. But some of the recent stuff are still pretty good. I don't think it would've gone down-hill if Stephen hadn't retired from his old position.
