    No, there have been many longer cartoons, such as Rocko's and Rugrats.

    SpongeBob is one of the longest that have aired, but I believe Rugrats and Rocko lasted more.

    If you think about it, Rugrats kind of cheated to get that title, though not purposely. They took it off the air for a few years, and that was counted into the time period.They say it lasted twelve years, but it actually lasted ten, which SpongeBob SquarePants will probably surpass.

    Acually,Rugrats has took the record of the longest,Nick even said so if you don't believe me,as 14 years.And Hey Arnold! lasted 8 years.

    Well SpongeBob isn't the longest nicktoon but it's one of the most most popular nicktoons on Nickelodeon and it is even more popular than Rugrats. If SpongeBob lasts for 16 years then it will beat Rugrats and will become the longest nicktoon on Nick, but I highly doubt that SpongeBob would last that long.

    Definitely has to be Rugrats, which lasted from 1991-2005 (or even 2006, when All Grown Up ended.). But SpongeBob is  without a doubt up there longevity wise and probably the most popular. Rugrats was the "crown-jewel," if you will of animated Nickelodeon (and probably even Nickelodeon in general) for a long time, but it seems as if SpongeBob has certainly surpassed it in recent years.
