I noticed that cartoons such as the Simpsons and King of the Hill have switched to the HD format for the first time ever this month. SpongeBob is also succssaful, I'm wondering if they will update the animation of the show, such as giving it a widescreen look and reanimate the opening sequence.

To be honest, I like it the way it is.

It wouldn't feel as SpongeBob-ish with that.

What is HD format and what do the letters stand for? I actually don't know what it means!

Well if SpongeBob is getting an HD Format, then I really do hope it improves the animation with some sort of cutting edge special effects!

Er maybe... or does it just make the animation brighter or something else? O_o

EDIT: This is my 100th post! XD

I recently got an HD TV and I gotta say, it looks awesome. I think Nick should air episodes both in HD and in normal format.

Sorry to go off-topic, but has anyone seen the new The Simpsons theme? It's two minutes long, and it looks really cool animation-wise.

But I still think they should've kept the classics like SB & The Simpsons the way they are.

Well, that's just me I guess.

Actually, I think it would be cool to have it in HD, you know, change can be good sometimes, and yeah, I saw The Simpsons' one, lol at their TV, we're on modern days

What's the point of having a cartoon in HD? They're just blotches of colors and outlines. It would be cool SpongeBob switched to a widescreen format, though.

Not really, even animation looks better in HD, it probides with more detail, since it wouldn't be noticed in regular animation, animators wouldn't add it, but with HD format, they can make it much more detailed and the colors can be much more pure.

Ya think The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie had the HD Format? Or was it something else? Either way the animation was definitely outstanding and clean in the movie.

I've always wondered what they did with the animation in the movie to make it look like that. Higher qualityanimation was one of the wide variety of reasons that made seeing the movie in theaters all the more worthwhile.

I just hope that if SpongeBob's regular episodes get the HD Format, it will turn out successful and won't make the animation worse.

Well, of course they're going to use top-quality animation while making a movie. But I don't think SB has the budget yet to start using the same animation, like The Simpsons has.

I think SpongeBob could get attention as being the first animated show on Nick to switch to High Definition. I think it would be a good move on the show's part. Plus, now that King of the Hill, The Simpsons, South Park, The Cleveland Show, American Dad, and Family Guy are all already or going to be in HD, more animated shows are bound to follow in their footsteps.
