Apparently , a guy by the name of Troy Walker was recently heared sueing the creator of Spongebob Squarepants who the suer claims that he was the orginal person who had the idea of a sponge named Bob. However , unlike Spongebob Squarepants ( at all ) , Bob Spongee ( the name of Troy's idea ) happened to be nothing more then a rare toy sold to a flea market that features googly eyes , and your average cleansing sponge. However , there are some equalizations for some examples :

    • Both used the " Sponge for Hire " thing
    • Both characters are by the name of Bob
    • Both characters live in a house
    • Both characters are unemployeed ( J/K , Spongebob is employeed )

For more infomation about this guy and his character trying to erase the rights of Spongebob Squarepants forever...

Also, this guy even has a short site on it: www.bobspongee.com Even if the dude did create a sponge named Bob, how does he know Stephen Hillenburg actually took his idea?

Well, I used CompuServe to find that out, and it always gives the actual date that the image was created (not all browsers can do that).

I read that whole forum that was on that link. A lot of people already described this, but all the important elements of a plot are different.

    1. Appearence: Bob Spongee doesn't look anything like SpongeBob. He doesn't look like a sponge at all. And all the other characters are humans.

    2. Setting: The comic doesn't look like it takes place underwater, just on some generic street on land. And his house isn't a pineapple...

    3. Characteristics: Bob Spongee doesn't appear to have any. Niether do ANY of the characters.

Nickelodean didn't steal his ideas, because he doesn't have any ideas. So this guy doesn't deserve anything from Nickelodean, except maybe a good beating. Maybe.

And just look at that toy! That is the most poorly-concieved thing I've ever seen. This guy has no talent, he should've realized after making the first one that no one would buy it!

I can see one or two dolls being bought by really bored young kids from a stand in the middle of nowhere, then thrown away the next day because they were boring.

Anyway, this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I hope he loses this case.

Yeah, when I first heard the name "Bob Spongee" I was thinking that sounds more like a ripoff of "Spongebob". Maybe this is just another attempt to get Spongebob cancelled? The guy should have at least more comics or proof for the case than just one toy and a comic.

Also, he made his in 1991, while Stephen Hillenburg started making his show in the 80s.

Obviously, this person is just jealous that Stephen Hillenburg made a better sponge than he did.

I agree, the toy doesn't look like anything worth buying. All you have to do is grab a kitchen sponge on draw a face on it. Plus, Bob Spongee doesn't even look like a sponge, he looks like a square with a face. Also, it's weird that he has a human wife and kids.

Very true. Hillenburg made 'Bob the Sponge' for a comic within the 1980's, and he moved on from that.

They are suing Spongebob because of that thing?! Spongebob and the characters are waaaaaaaaay better looking than that cruddy little thing! That Bob Spongee thing looks so cheesy! It's just a sponge with google eyes and marker drawings. Heck, I could do that! Spongebob is NOTHING like Bob Spongee!

WTF?!!  That's not a novelty toy! It's a sponge with a marker drawn face! This whole thing is VERY unconvincing.Alot of the points people have been making  make alot of sense and all prove one thing-- This claim makes NO sense!
This guy is a freakin dork! If he thinks he can get away with millions,he's wrong! And,plus, why would we want to guess  which kid he is in his yearbook?

Good point. His stuff is just a load of cr@p, he thinks he can just fool anyone. There is basically no comparison.

Bob Spongee is a sponge who has a human wife and kids and lives in a house in Apple Street. He used to work at a soap factory, but now he's unemployed.

SpongeBob is a sponge who lives with his pet snail Gary in a pineapple in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. He works at a fast food restaurant called The Krusty Krab is still works there.

The only comparison is that they both are sponges and they both are named Bob, everything else is contrast. I have no idea why Troy Walker says that SpongeBob and Bob Spongee have a lot of similarities.

Yeah, and he says "It's more than ironic that two characters are sponges, both are named Bob, and both live in a house complex".
1.) If it wasn't for the name, it would be kinda hard to believe he's a sponge. He looks like just... a square, or a piece of paper.
2.) SpongeBob's name is "SpongeBob". Not "Bob". Plus, I knew that Stephen had created SpongeBob as "Bob" before "Bob Spongee" ever came to be.
3.) Lots of characters live in houses. There's no way the idea of SpongeBob living in a house was stolen from Troy Walker...

SpongeBob lives in a pineapple house, Bob Spongee lives in a regular house, and Troy Walker says that both sponges are unemployed which is not true because SpongeBob is employed by the Krusty Krab.

Yeah, and why would a guy wait for 5 years to sue? by reading that article and going on the website, it seems like he only watched one episode of Spongebob. He didn't say anything about the personality of Bob Spongee. Spongebob's a child-like underwater version of Jerry Lewis, while Bob Spongee's looking for a job and has a wife and kids. He's like a real kitchen sponge living in the human world.
