Ever since the movie, the show has been different. In the movie, which was supposed to be the series finale, we got everything that we expected to be in the final episode of Spongebob. Plankton finally got the Krabby Patty secret formula, and temporarily became the dictator of Bikini Bottom, before going to jail. Mr. Krabs finally made The Krusty Krab into a chain restaraunt, and Spongebob became the manager for the first new addition. Everything had been wrapped up nicely. So when Nickelodeon orders a fourth season, what do the creators do? They act like the movie NEVER HAPPENED. Not only that, but half of the writing staff left to move onto new things. C.H. Greenblatt, which was one of the show's best writers/storyboarders, left to work on Billy and Mandy and Chowder, for instance. Season four was almost as good as season three, but not quite. It was still awesome, though. However, not only did the movie's events become nonexistant, but Spongebob's voice became ANNOYING. Who's idea was it to change his voice? In season five, things begin to get A LOT less funny. Patrick became an even BIGGER idiot, and Spongebob became almost as dumb as Patrick was back in season two and three. The biggest blow of all was Atlantis Squarepantis, which is THE worst movie that I've seen in my life. I rarely even watch the show at all anymore. So please tell me: am I the only one who feels this way?

Actually, the show was on hiatus/TBD during production of the movie, but nobody was sure if the series would continue or not. I was disappointed when season four premiered because I was hoping the show would go in continuity with the movie (with SpongeBob working at the KK2 and all that.

If the show did end after the movie, then fans would get sick of reruns of the same old episodes (60 is a small number). I'm glad they renewed the show for more seasons. At least the writers are putting an effort to the show, even though we all can agree that it's just not the same.

I agree that it has a slightly different feel for me, but I still absolutely love the show. People complain about the stories being dumb, but the fact still remains that they are original. Unlike some cartoons, Family Guy and The Simpsons. Plus I find that Season 6 is the funniest season to date.

Well, I thought the episodes are good!

I do believe the show jumped the shark in the fourth season, but some of the episodes were good like "Mrs. Puff, You're Fired" and "Sing a Song of Patrick". But yeah, I agree that the new writers made it feel like the movie never happened, because now, SpongeBob still competes for the best of Mr. Krabs, as Plankton still attempts to get the formula. After the movie, I felt that Plankton wasn't really needed anymore since he knew the formula now, but then look what happens, he continues to steal it.

My favourite episode ever was in Season 4 (Dunces And Dragons). Two other episodes from S4 are on my Top 10 Episodes List (Wishing You Well & Krusty Towers). I never thought about what happened to the KK2, and just continued watching. I reckon it jumped the shark at Season 5.

What you said about Plankton still wanting to steal it is true, and there were so many episodes about the Krusty Krab and Chum Bucket. Fear Of A Krabby Patty, the first episode after the movie, was about the formula, and it was also a rip-off of Graveyard Shift.

For me, SpongeBob never jumped the shark. The series continues to be funny and original and one of my favorite shows. And why do people hate season 5 so much? I thought it was really good.

Agreed for sure, I also think that with the dreadful season 6.

I'm an actual SB fan. Just because I don't like S5 that much, doesn't mean I'm not a fan.
