Is it just me or is this show severly overrated on almost every single level? One being that the plots of the show are exactly the same thing each time. Sponge Bob does something wacky with his friend, laughs with his annoying high pitch laugh for about 30 minutes, and begins some idiotic song that has no particular point to the overall show at hand. I remember watching these episodes a bit when it first aired and it was lot more serious before Nickelodeon decided to change it because they thought it was too dark for children to see.

I don't recall him randomly breaking out into song, in almost any episodes. And when he does on a very few occasions sings it's for comedic purposes and since the plot as no particular point then how could the song make a point to the show?
