Personally i think this is really stupid and they should just wait until the entire season airs.

Yeah really the whole point of "Season" boxsets were to make them the full seasons so each boxset will have an equal amount of episodes.
The Season 1, Volume 1 thing is only for shows with lets say 26 episodes in Season 1 and 52 episodes in Season 2.
Then that show would have
Season 1- 26 episodes
Season 2 Volume 1- 26 episodes
Season 2 Volume 2- 26 episodes
All equal amounts
This is how spongebob will look
The Complete 1st Season- 40 eps
The Complete 2nd Season- 40 eps
The Complete 3rd Season- 40 eps
Season 4 Volume 1- 20 eps
Season 4 Volume 2- 20 eps
