Just to clarify:
The Games Thread post here, saying that there is a limit of four games per forum, has been here since June 2007. It's not a new policy.
The Off-Topic discussion forum is intended for discussion, not random chatting/partying. That's not a new policy. It doesn't matter if it's show-specific or not.
Chat-type party threads not having to do with a show haven't been allowed at tv.com: that's not a new policy. Blogs = fine. Show forum = not fine
If the editor here wishes to create a more general discussion "lounge" thread, that's up to him. Only one is permitted per forum.

As for "Off-Topic," the rules for that haven't changed since the site stated up. It can be kind of confusing, but here's a simple version. If you're in the Spongebob forum and...
what you're saying is about Spongebob = on-topic
what you're saying is personal and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about another show and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about Halloween and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about Christmas and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about Hanukkah and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about Arbor Day and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about tv.com policy and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
what you're saying is about what you can't say, and isn't about Spongebob or the show = off-topic
And so on.... The key words here are
isn't about Spongebob or the showIt's complicated, but we have faith that folks here can work it out. Otherwise, to paraphrase
Star Trek: "There's a million things you can talk about, and ten million things that you can't."
Personal stuff goes in personal blogs. That's why everyone hast hem. The moderators will be glad to answer questions about policy in
About the Forums - Ask the Mods. If you want TV.com to change its long-standing policy or give certain users special treatment to go off-topic, you can post in

Hope that helps.
