I've held my own opinion that most spongebob episodes post season 3 are just not good. Now that I look back, almost every episode from seasons 1 through 3 are absolute gold. Classic episodes, that I've seen so many times, but every time I see them, I still laugh my ass off. The jokes are brilliant, the plots are original, and the faces that the characters make are a joke within itself. I don't know if it's the age thing, because I saw all of those episodes when I was younger, but even when I watch these new episodes with an open mind I find no enjoyment out of them. So many episodes are just dumb, and many are just about plankton plotting to steal the formula yet again. Please tell me, older spongebob fans, that you see the same trend. I mean come on, the characters just don't seem as funny anymore. I will always hold the first three seasons near and dear, i'll still laugh at them when i'm 40, but for some reason I hate these new ones.

Not all of the new episodes are bad.

I'm sure they all aren't bad. If anyone can give me some suggestions on some good newer episodes, that would be appreciated. It's just ever since Hillenburg left, the hidden humor and sarcasm is seemingly gone. I think the show is targeted more towards a younger audience now, and theirs nothing wrong with that. It just pisses me off.

Well seeing as how i'm a diehard Spongebob fan (which means i'll stick through with that show till it ends) I still enjoy some of the newer episodes but I know that the show hasn't been the same since Hillenburg left (I still don't understand why he would wanna leave one the best shows on TV at that time) but some of the newer Spongebob episodes i've enjoyed are and would recommend to someone are: Single Cell Anniversary, Kracked Krabs, One Coarse Meal, and Spongebob's Last Stand. Kracked Krabs hasn't aired on TV yet but you can watch it on nick.com or if you live outside the U.S. I recorded and uploaded it on youtube in english just search: Spongebob Kracked Krabs. The thing i've mostly noticed about the show is that now it is more tame (uses less adult humor), the show is still good but will never be as good as seasons 1-3.

I agree. I do enjoy some of the post season 3 episodes (Krabby Towers, Sing a song of Patrick, Stanley S. Squarepants. to name a few) but to me the show will never reach the same success as the first 3 seasons did

I agree. Seasons 1 and 2 are the best, 3 is alright. 4 was so-so, 5 was worse. 6 was so-so. 7 was ok. 8 so far is ok.

Thanks, everyone, at least i'm not alone. But italiankid, you're 100% right, it's the adult humor that's gone, the first three season's just had a satirical vibe. But ultimately the show truly is for kids, and that's what's most important.

I completely agree with you. I find the episodes so mind-draining and mundane that I don't watch this show anymore, not even reruns.

i agree 100%. ive felt this way forever!! i mean, after the movie, the show just went downhill. but steven hillenburg stopped writing episodes so thats why. these newer episodes are downright retarded. i mean, penny foolish? the gift of gum? seriously??? ughhh if only steven would come back!!!
