I don't think it really happened, becouse pat, squid and mr krabs were shocked to haer it, but were also on the wedding.

It could have been a flash forward, but I guess they made Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs react that way to confuse viewers. And the wedding turning out to be a play, well, I think that that may have been meant to be a joke since it could be a real wedding.
