Avatar's not even an Anime, it's a kind of show where some people call it as an "Amerime."
like your humurous and wacky American Cartoon shows, some Animes are good and some of them are bad, but people who just don't like Anime at all do not understand the true essence of a different kind of animated show that can be both exciting and interesting to watch, some are very adventurous and have some good humor, drama, epic events and possible battles, that it'll always have you keep coming back for more. Anime are just animated shows with a different style of animation and storylines based on the shows, and are usually created by Japanese people, some Anime can have thrilling and epic adventures, and even some foreshadowing like in Death Note. I pity people (which means I feel sorry for people) who don't like watching any Anime at all or even some Amerime shows because they're really missing out.
Some Anime and Amerime shows will have a little humor sprinkled on some episodes, but usually those kinds of animated shows focus on forshadowing, drama, battles, and action/adventure. I can list facts and proof all day about how some anime shows are truly unique and epic.

Yes I have watched some Anime shows, I know that some of them are focused on adventures, a lot fo animes usually have one or more good main characters having to fight off all of these different villains or same villains that keep coming back with different evil plans. Usually animes do really end up having a lot of different fights and battles with super powers like Dragon Ball Z.
And yes Death Note does have foreshadowing, foreshadowing is that when you first start to watch a few episodes in a show, it feels like some dark and sinister things are gonna happen later on in the tv show or story book. Death Note has that when you first watch the beginning because of the main characters reading a dark paper where if you read it you'll end up dying whatever the set time the dark villain decides to make it.
