I was just wondering, does anyone else think that the new episodes are kinda bland? I prefer most of the earlier eps, pre 2002.

The Animation kinda reminds me of the movie, spongebob being drawn paler, with eyebrows. His voice is like the moive too, it's squeaker, the plots kinda make me think of Rocko, FOP or R & S or something. The show has changed, but i still kinda enjoy it.

i agree with the origional poster, the episodes in 2000-2002 are the best. Now they seem not as humorus and also the animation looks very different than compared to the episodes in the early seasons. So i say it is goin downhill.

I don't think so! The third season of SpongeBob has of my favorite episodes, and they are very hilarious! Some episodes from the fourth season are hilarious too(like Krusty Towers). SpongeBob's going a little downhill, but that's because of some episodes in the fourth season(like Fear of a Krabby Patty and Karate Island).

Like many shows, the production of the movie obviously affected the show in some way. Most of the SpongeBob crew, including Mark O'Hare, Kent Osborne, Kaz, and Merriweather Williams left the show before it was renewed, and most of them are now working on Camp Lazlo.

SpongeBob today is different from what it was fron 2000 to 2003. Most noticably, SpongeBob is drawn much differently, perhaps more rectangular than before. Some of the background characters look more caricatured, too. I'm guessing this is from the visual influence of Vincent Waller, who actually returned from a brief stint in Season 1.

That along with comedic timing, the changes so far are only minute. Let's be thankful they didn't take a turn for the worst like Rugrats or Dexter's Lab.

Yep thats pretty much the reason why it's going down-hill. Also the fact that Stephen Hillenburg (original creator) doesn't work on it anymore, except for being executive producer.

Fear of a Krabby Patty, Shell of a Man, MM & BB 6, Krusty Towers and others were simply hilarious!

This is what I think. Spongbob is definitly going downhill. It's exactly the animation, it's that the animation is going faster that then it was in 2002. And when the animation is going faster so is the story, which is why the episode is really hard to understand making it boring. Really, that's the only thing that bugs me, I think I would like the new episodes if the animation went slower like it did back in 2002. Also the humor is little to exagerated now, in fact the only episdoe I have found actually funny in a long time is "Whale of a Birthday.

    Seasons 1-3 were amazing!

    The movie was fantastic!

Season 4 is where the show is slipping

I guess that's what happens when the creator leaves..

You forgot to mention that the humor is getting weaker too. For example, Patrick actually had a brain in the early episodes, but now he's been reducing to a mental retard, seriously...the whole "Squidward sucks at clarinet" has been played out too much in every episode, and the ungodly, unbearable high-pitched voice of Spongebob.....ugh... Plus the "Patrick Smartpants" episode INFURIATED me to no end...so yeah, Spongebob has undoubtly gone downhill. I used to be a big fan of the square sponge, but I completly despise these new episodes.

Some of the episodes are okay, but they don't have the same kind of comedy they used to. I hated WHale of a birhtday.

In the earliest episodes, Patrick was originally supposed to be some long-time friend that SpongeBob could rely on as a real-world consultant, even if Patrick wasn't quite right in the head.

"Patrick SmartPants" is one episode I've been meaning to see for a while. But I think his retardation kicked in long before the movie.

Well, i dont think Spongebob has "Jumped the Shark", yet. It's still amusing, like When Patrick is having trouble reading the sign, Potatoe Potato and Sponge making Pat cry with him. Some is gross, like the Poop Throw machine and the one with the Neighbour Club. SpongeBob is still fresh and good, lets hope it lasts longer than 2008 like the rumor says.
