I think it's by far the worst season but there were a few good episodes (Spongebob vs. The Patty Gadget, Krabs A La Mode, Le Big Switch, etc.)

Nah, no way is it an improved season from season 4, imo it was a downgrade of the SpongeBob series after season 4. Season 4 had some great episodes I like which are Patrick SmartPants, Selling Out, and I also even like Shell of a Man, Krabs VS. Plankton, and The Lost Mattress. Sure The Lost Mattress may of had some Squidward abuse in it, but I didn't think it was that bad and enough to ruin the episode.
Back to season 5, there was just way too many gorss episodes that were the most disgusting in all of history, and not only that, but a lot of episodes had some poor and feeble plots like The Krusty Plate and Blackened Sponge. I'm glad this season is over with now.
Because I sure do love season six and seven episodes of SpongeBob, there's hardly any at all that I dislike in seasons 6 and 7 actually come to think of it... The only really bad ones I can think of are Penny Foolish and The Splinter. Season seven rocks with episodes like Toy Store of Doom, Ditchin', and Porous Pockets.

i think it needed a little bit of work but it was by far better than season 4 most of those episodes were boring like Good neighbors,All That Glitters,& Best Day Ever were pretty uggghh if u ask me

Season 5 felt like a comeback season at first. It started out with some really good episodes, but once it got to the second half, the plots just got too crazy and poorly-written (especially with all the 3-segment shows). Overall, this season could've used some more work.

It was pretty much a sub-par season, except for episodes like New Digs, Krabs A La Mode, Bucket Sweet Bucket, Slimy Dancing, The Inmates of Summer, Two Faces of Squidward, and 20,000 Patties Under the Sea

I'm in the minority here, but I actually like Season 5. It had some bad episodes, but it also hqad some great ones, like Roller Cowards, Sing a Song of Patrick, Friend of Foe, Stanley S. SquarePants, and I even liked Atlantis SquarePantis. All around, OK season, better than 6 IMO.

It was ok, but not as bad as season 4 and nowhere near as good as seasons 1,2,or 3. Except it was the grossest season (Sponge Bob eating a rotten patty, Patrick's hairy back, poop cannons, Sponge Bob being wiped by Patrick's armpit etc).

Way better than Season 4. It has a higher average of good episodes than Season 4. But, of course, it's no Season 3. Still, I like it anyhow.
