Well one day, I was really bored. I had nothing else to do, so I pulled out my Season 4 Volume 2 Disc 2 DVD and popped it into my player. Then, I watched Best Day Ever and counted the number of jokes in it. I remembered that number. Then I watched Born to Be Wild and counted the jokes. I noticed a significant difference. Best Day Ever (as I recal) was somewhere in the 60's, while Born to Be Wild was high up in the 70's or possibly even the 80's. I don't remember enough, though.

Here is a joke count I have just done for you.

I've never actually counted, though I sometimes wondered if some episodes did indeed have more jokes than others. I would expect Fear of a Krabby Patty to be high of the list, it seemed to have a lot of jokes, especially in the Peter Lankton scenes.

That's very interesting. When I get home from work in a little bit, I'll DEFINITELY do that.

Thanks. I didn't think anyone else had or would pay attention to that kind of stuff.

hmm...depends what you consider a joke, no? I mean, to some people something can be funny while to others it isn't. I bet if we took the same episode and counted the jokes we would get different numbers, but it would still be something cool to do

Well if I noted the amount of jokes in an episode, I would probably count ALL jokes, rather I found it funny or not. I'm sure even if I watched Good Neighbors I would find some jokes.

It would be kind of hard to count ALL the jokes because, like JellyFishJammer said, people have their different opinions about what they think is intended to be funny and what they just find funny on their own. While there are a lot of all-out jokes where the intent is obvious, some of the humor is just smoothed out through the personalities and the situations.

Yeah. You are right. It basically depends on what episode you're watching, IMO. The type humor in the episodes varries, thus making it hard to count sometimes.

Well I do know I've rewatched episodes and noticed jokes I never saw before, so I guess it is possible for certain jokes to fall under the radar.

While I do encounter each ep detail by detail, I've never actually tallied the number of gags. Maybe I'll consider it when there's not much going on...

I watched "Whale Of A Birthday" and I thought they were honestly trying a little too hard. The joke with Pearl riding a sea horse and then crushing it is a prime example. There's lots of other jokes too like the sign saying "It's A Boy" and it being crossed out with paint and girl being written under it.

This episode was packed full of unnecessary writing.

I found the "It's A Boy" sign hilarious. Plus this thread isn't about what we THINK of the jokes, it's about how many jokes there are.
