    Many had said before you that Spongebob is not gay but you guys don't need to get so angry, nobody is saying that he is.

    IMO, they just added a bit of queer humor, that's it, like J.D. and Turk from Scrubs, but more child-friendly.

    Really, I think its just part of these new additions the new wirters have thrown on the characters. SpongeBob and Patrick are more immature now what with the chubby cheeks and the one tooth, so SB acting gay is probably due to his lowered level of maturity and seriousness. He is not actually gay if he likes to hang with Sandy. Well in my opinion anyway. The flirting tones towards Squidward? Probably would not have happened if the old writers were still here.

    Its complex but I just don't think he's gay there are some things he does with Sandy. Even though the new episodes show less of her now. ... okay now I'm confused, but at least he doesn't walk up to actually kiss any males.

    ok, well first, i forgot that i made this one, so i haven't seen this until today. but what i basically meant was that i think Spongebob and Patrick are acting more, uh, girlish.

    I have always always thought of SpongeBob as being NEUTRAL....or "asexual," as Hillenberg put it in that article talonmalon gave us. I certainly don't believe he's gay but I don't think he's really into girls either...he's never really shown a lot of interest in having a romantic relationship at all. But of course, since he's single and doesn't date, there are people out there (not in this forum) who want to cry the gay story because of it. Anyone can see that SpongeBob is just really optimistic and will take any kind act from anyone. Really, I don't see why Hillenberg actually had to set the record straight to a reporter. People (not in this forum) just love to assume things...
