I've been thinking about this for a while, and who is SpongeBob's best friend? One could say that Sandy is his best friend, and one could say that Patrick is his best friend.
What do you think? There are a lot of interesting arguments that can come up.
While discussing this, tell us WHY you think that __________ is the better friend.

He said Patrick was his best friend multiple times in an episode

He said Squidward was his best friend in Dying for pie, dear vikings and other occations

I think he said Sandy was his best friend in ripped pants and other times

His main best friend is Patrick, of course, reasons? Well, watch the show, doesn't get more obvious
But, he is that kind of people that have many best friends, I guess, he even said that Spat was his best friends, and Gary, and bubble buddy, and wormy, the list goes on.

Obviously, Patrick is his true BFF. He's appeared in most, if not all of the eps and has done countless things together with Spongebob.

All of that is true, but in Overbooked and some of the newer episodes, Patrick hasn't really been that good toward SpongeBob's needs. In the Best Day Ever, he was too dumb to realize that SpongeBob wanted his best day ever and really wanted to have his new net.
And although Sandy doesn't intend to hurt SpongeBob when she does, she unkowingly hurts SpongeBob. The difference between between Patrick's and Sandy's unintentional pain toward SpongeBob is that SpongeBob is more afraid to tell Sandy the truth.

That's just my opinion.

True it's just that Patrick is his main best friend among his other best friends, like in Rock Bottom, Dumped, and some other episodes plus the movie reveals evidence that SpongeBob's best friend is Patrick, but there's other episodes where someone else is his best friend.

Well, SpongeBob is just a friendly person. He's open to any kind of "best friend". It could even be just some random Bikini Bottomite. Though, I think the most obvious answer would be Patrick, since they're together the most often throughout the series. Squidward doesn't count since their only real relation is that they're neighbors and co-workers.

I agree with most people that Patrick is SB's main BFF. The two have fun together, like to annnoy Squidward, and have adventures together.

Patrick is obviously SpongeBob's best friend since as his best friend, he returns SpongeBob's feelings of friendship which Squidward obviously doesn't do; and Sandy could be thought of as SpongeBob's female best friend.

Patrick! He is the intended ULTIMATE BEST OF BEST friend right? And he's sweet ^_^ The rest are just great friends to Spongebob (etc Sandy, Gary, Squidward)
