Okay, before I go on about this, I'd like to lay down a couple of rules for this thread:

    1. Only post in here if you actually like this episode, even if it has its share of flaws.

    2. Those who:

    A. hate this episode

    B. can't say anything good about this episode or anybody here

    C. can only be harshly critical about this episode or anybody here

Are not permitted to post in here. If they do post in here, their posts will be deleted.

    3. No flaming, trolling, or spamming please.

Okay, enough jibba-jabba. Let's get on with this.

I've noticed that a reasonable amount of fans seem to hate the episode "Whale of a Birthday/Karate Island", because they think it's awful. Well, I don't find it that awful at all. I mean, I'll admit it does have its share of flaws, but I still think it's an all-around decent episode. Now probably one of the reasons fans think it's bad is because it doesn't have a lot of humor, but that's alright, because most of the humor on this show is stupidly childish and immature. But I feel that it doesn't need humor to move the story along. Just because it's more dramatic than funny doesn't mean that it's boring, and it happens to be an episode that's actually very well written and thought out, the plots are good, and it actually makes sense for a change. I also like seeing Sandy Cheeks in action fighting, since she is my favorite character, and I'm glad that "Karate Island" was voted #1 in the Best Day Ever marathon. I think everybody needs to understand that you don't always need humor to liven things up. Sometimes drama fits the story better and in this case, it works very well for this episode. In conclusion, this happens to be one the very few good episodes of Spongebob.

Whale of a Birthday is a great season 4 can see nothing wrong with it

Karate Island is an ok Season 4 the beginning was hilarious but when they got on the island it was quite boring that's just my opinions

Indeed I do. I'll admit, Karate Island was pretty alright as well as Sandy Cheeks episodes go, but I disliked Spongebob putting Sandy down. (At least he apologized later at the end.) I'm guessing you don't like Karate Island because there's not a lot of humor. Not to be mean or anything, but I think you need to understand that humor doesn't always make the story interesting, and in this case, Karate Island doesn't depend on childish humor to make it anymore exciting than it already is. I still stand by my opinion that it's just alright, and I hope you'll change your mind about Karate Island in time.

Not boring, just dramatic. Just because it isn't funny doesn't mean it's boring. I think what I'm trying to explain is that there's a difference between boring and dramatic.

Well what I mean by boring is that it just didn't keep me entertained throughout the episode

Okay. But the way I see it, it's probably because you don't see it the way I do. I find it entertaining because Sandy gets to put her karate skills to the test.

I agree completely, Whale of a Birthday was great and Karate Island was also great up until they got onto the island, but Karate Island's still watchable there's not really that many Spongebob episodes that I hate and I wouldn't say I hate either of these episodes, Karate Island's just not one of my favorites, Whale of a Birthday was really good though.

I don't hate Karate Island, but I just don't want to give it a score higher than 3 because the part before going to the island only lasted for like a minute or two. I think I should just Sealed.

I think Whale of a birthday was actually quite good! The part where spongebob was shopping for the stuff was humorouse on its own!

Karate Island was a fun episode to watch. Not the best, but it was good.I made a spinoff about it over at SBC.

okay who the hell do you think you are? it may be your topic, but it does not mean you can talk down to everyone else by threatening to report other users @_@.

now i am going to offer this rebuttal to your comments about karate island. i for one have no problem with this episode, minus the fact that it was voted the best episode ever three years ago which i am still suspicious about. however, i have noticed that you are an obsessive sandy fan. you only like episodes where sandy is not abused, but you hate episodes where she does get abused. there is no problem with you caring about your favorite character, but judging an entire episode based on character abusement is not really that fair.

finally, your comment about this being one of the few good episodes justs reinstates about how i think you are taking your sandy fanship a little to far. there are plenty of good episodes of spongebob. one of my favorite episodes (idiot box) involves probably my favorite character (squidward) getting sabotaged at the end. do i judge the entire episode based on him getting abused at the end? nope. i judge it cuz it entertained me with its witty humor and interesting subliminal message about how the simple things in life can give us pleasure including an empty box.

overall, just chill and don't take character abuse to seriously

WOAB is actually one of my favourite Season 4 eps, if only for Squidward singing a"Boys Who Cry" song.Karate Island was okay, but that's all I think of it.
