In my opinion, it's the second season. Almost all the episodes there are classics including "Squid's Day Off" and "Bubble Buddy". But I'm not saying the other seasons aren't without its charm.

Second season is great. Wormy, Dumped, Squidville, Life of Crime, Pressure, Shanghaied, Gary Takes a Bath, Frankendoodle, The Secret Box, Band Geeks and Sailor Mouth are some of the best episodes of the series.

My favorite season would be Season 3, which contained GREAT episodes!

The 1st season is my favorite! I loved those classic episodes of Spongebob, where the animation wasn't quite as good, but still had a wonderful feeling to it. Oh, those were the days.

Season 1 for having an unique freshman charm(Also applies to the first season of The Simpsons, which sadly is also extremely underrated).

Season 2 for having--by FAR--the best ratio of hilarious episodes.

My favorite season was defiantly season 2, because in season one the animation wasn't that great, and in season 3 it seemed as if the writers were having some trouble coming up with new episodes. Still, I think that the first 3 seasons of Spongebob were fantastic and are much better then the other 4 seasons combined!
