I know you probably won't recognize me. I'm not a regular on the Spongebob boards, but I noticed something in "Truth or Square" that I don't think has been mentioned anywhere yet and I think it should be brought up.

Personally, I liked the movie. Yes, it was somewhat a disappointment that the marriage wasn't supposed to be "real" but one particular part of the wedding clip caught my attention.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qxet6aMDEg skip to about 2:16 in the video

One quote (my favorite one in the movie) made me think.

    The priest/preacher: "I didn't know this was a play..."

I actually didn't think about this at first, but my sister pointed it out: If he didn't think it was a play, it means he was a real priest/preacher, and if he didn't know it was supposed to be fake, wouldn't that make the wedding...VALID?!?! And Spongebob and Sandy DON'T even KNOW IT?!?!

Am I the only one that noticed this?!?! Is there still some hope for "Spandy"?!?!

Yeah, I heard someone saying it, but they didn't sign any papers and that's the only true way you can legally marry someone, so tough luck, Spandy freaks

    Agreed ^

I liked the marriage scene. It was so cute. And even though it's just a play they really look like they had feelings with each other which is really adorable ^_^ Then again, it's acting. Then again, it looked like they were in love

I knew someone was going to make a thread for that. If the stage light hadn't fallen and the wedding had continued, it probably would have been valid and they would really be married...unless there was no signing of documents shown. But, since they never officially finished the ceremony...no rings were exchanged, and no documents signed..the wedding is invalid. I'm sorry to anyone who had their hopes up, but that's the way it is.

I thought about that too... are the creators trying to mess with us or something?
It's the same deal that has some Muppet fans baffled. WERE kermit and Piggy really married at the end of the Manhattan movie? I'm still deciding if that's true or not. Although, if the priest is real, and he thought so with the marriage, though its still a play, are they still technically wed? Someone check out a book at the library on nuptial law and see if there's any hope for spandy.

LOL, Spandy fans like finding these little loopholes. You actually had me going for a bit, but like JellyFishJammer said, they need to sign documents to get married. Unless customs are different underwater...

Well I'm not an expert on weddings, but I think the bride and groom have to kiss to be legally married.(correct me if I'm wrong.) So I'm pretty sure they're not married.

As a Spandy fan, I sure wish it could have been valid. I'd give anything to see SpongeBob and Sandy get married.

I guess it's possible...but naw. SpongeBob and Sandy are just friends. Just be glad they gave us some sort of vision of what their wedding would be like.
