The episode where Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward go the the Flying Dutchman's ship and they steal his sock and they each get one wish, patrick wishes for gum, which ends up in them getting eaten, it goes back to squidward, who wishes for hair, which gets them eaten again, spongebob wishes to leave, which results in them not getting eaten.

I have only seen this episode once, and it did not air alongside any other episode, and it aired when I was in 2nd grade (2001) before the now-known one where they go through the perfume department and all that stuff

AND I AM NOT LYING!!!!! (just so you know)

An extended version of the summary (from my memory, at least) is this

The Flying Dutchman's ship appears above Spongebob's house, and Patrick and Squidward go with him to check it out, the Flying Dutchman comes out and greets them, and then imprisons them, Spongebob and Patrick find out that he is going to eat them later on, so they sneak into his room and take his sock, they are on the deck and spongebob threatens to get rid of the sock, but he will give it back in exchange for 3 wishes, everyone gets one. Patrick goes first, he wishes for mint gum, which results in them getting eaten. It goes back to before he wished for it, and Squidward wishes for hair, and the same thing happens. So spongebob wishes to go home, and they appear in his house.

if you don't believe me, then fine, but i no what i saw and it was this, and the summary may be a bit off, only because i saw it about 8, maybe 9 years ago

What??? A spongebob addict like you should know this one=p.

Anyway back to the OP.The Epsoide was called "Shanghied".I belive that Nick had a Contest to see which ending was the most popluar.

They don't have the multiple endings on the S2 Boxset(WTF).The only thing I know(Besides a serach on youtube) is to pick up the "Sea Stories" DVD.

    I've seen them.

Also, Squidward does not wish for hair, he wishses that he never met SpongeBob and Patrick in his entire life. Which results to them not knowing Squidward at all and they get eaten.

I too remember watching that in 2001, and yeah, Squidward wished that he never met SpongeBob and Patrick, not for hair. According to my unclear memory, they still had that perfume department scene.

For the record, it was known as "The Wish" special. Viewers got to call in and vote for which ending they wanted to win. After that, "Shanghaied" didn't air again until July 23, 2003, when they aired it without the Patchy segments before the premiere of "Gary Takes a Bath" (which did not air in 2001 dispite popular belief). I believe they didn't bring back the Patchy segments until 2004.

Actually, the special was called "You Wish" and of course we all know about Shanghaied, you talk about it as if it were a rumored episode or something. I've never seen the Pat's or Squid's wish, but the one they kept was SpongeBob's (the one that won on the contest) "I wish the Flying Dutchman was a vegetarian" and then they transform into fruits and the Dutchman plans to eat them to prevent scurby

Did you know that the Latin American version of this episode, Squidward, got the wish instead of Spongebob?

SpongeBob's ending was really the only one that mattered.

I think they picked SB's because, SpongeBob is the star of the show!
