Anyone else notice the changes in the art style?

Things were simple and basic back then. Now, for some reason, characters have cheeks protruding from their face at enormous distances, things appear to be gross and overly detailed, and the way the characters themselves look has significantly changed.

This is mostly notable if you look at, say, The Graveyard Shift, and compare it to The Splinter. Look at Spongebob, and notice his changes. I like how things are more round and detailed, but some things just have too much detail and just look weird.

I've noticed that too, but mainly with SpongeBob. See my post in "Why's Spongebob so annoying now?"

Yep, the animation is a lot different for me. Personally, I enjoy the animation in the first season the most, but that's mostly because I'm a hardcore fan of traditional animation.

I DESPISE when people say the animation is worse now. Guys, the animation is better, crisper and just generally sharper-looking. Judge the animation on the actual animation, not on the quality of the episodes.

Now I understand some people actually do judge on the animation itself and not the quality of the episode, but I strongly feel the OP is judging on episode quality.

Relax, SeaSpongez. I never said it was worse. I only said that I prefer traditional animation. I never said I hated the computer animation,

QFT. I actually appreciate how everything is drawn in the newer seasons. The only detail that bothers me a little bit is that Spongebob and Patrick's dimples are constantly shown now.

The animation is better than ever now, and the details in the art style are impressive, like for example, on Dear Vikings I love how the Vikings's ship looks in one scene, regardless what I think of the episode, episode quality and animation are two total different things. Now, SpongeBob's cheeks, don't know what that has to do with the animation at all, it's just character design gone weird

Technically speaking, the animation is now more polished and overall better. That's a fact. However, people can still prefer the charm of the old animation.

The New animation is ok, but not very classic like it was in Seasons 1 and 2.

Well new stuff is new, so it really can't be classic.

(dont bash me for this!!!!! ) To admit it, I kind of like season 3 animation out of all animation SpongeBob ever had. season 1's animation looked sort of rough, and same with season 2. Also, for the recent animation, I think it looks too sterile and messes up the new looks a bit. I think the only few characters that look "identical" to what they used to are Plankton, Patrick, Mr Krabs, Sandy, Gary, Squidward and The Flying Dutchmen.

I have to say the same thing to Family Guy animation.

You know what, I agree. I do rank Season 3 the top. As long as you're not judging on episode quality, it's perfectly fine.

I prefer the animation in the newer seasons as well. It's not too pale as in season 1 and it's not too bright as in season 3. Plus, the newer animation gives the show a more cartoonish look. The only thing I don't like is how they sometimes draw SpongeBob out-of-model, particularly when they want to make him act cheesy, but it's easy to get used to.

Hmmm....I was reading my previous comment. Season 3 isn't exactly my FAVORITE, I like the newer seasons better, but it also ranks high.
