    Yeah, Asami isn't evil.

The authorities are confident that they have the dangerous men in check, she now lives in the same place as Tenzin and Korra and everybody trusts her like hell.

Asami is an Equalist. At best, she's brainwashed like the taken metalbending police will be, at worst, she's sooooo gonna check every single detail of the island for the end-game scenario.

I still hold out hope they won't go down such an obvious storyline that everyone has been thinking since her introdcution. That is about as shocking as oh Tarkin being Amon.

didn't someone else make that claim... oh right BATMAN

Amon is Batman? Wow talk about a crossover. Because now we have Spider-Lin, Equalists are ninja (believe) and Amon is Batman.

I have a hard time remembering names, especially cartoons and anime.

I hope that the metal stingers Lin has are actually a reference to a power Peter Parker got seven years ago in a storyline: The Other.

Obviously Asami's father was evil and so isTarlokk (at least I would be very surprised if he wasn't) but Asami herself is probably going to be the whole Zuko thing where she switched between good and evil. I wouldn't be surprised if a plot point is somehow Mako's father (who I think is related to Zuko and isn't actually Bolin's father) is the one that killed Asami's mother which will cause Asami to join her father against the Benders for a little bit.

Im actually really impressed with this show. It's definitely going for a more gritty vibe than LAB but it still has that Avatar charm. That bit with Cabbage Corp was just a great inside joke for fans. It's stuff that that that made LAB great and what makes this show just a good. Also, the animation is 1000 times better.

Sort of stupid (Hypocritical?) that Sato who explained that his love was taken away by benders to expect Asami to let non-benders take away her love, I mean sure he is her father and it was her mother but come on. Shame that a bunch of the metal benders might have their bending taken away how can Amon justify taking a police officer's power away? Unless he lets them go for now which would be a wiser move.

Why can't metal benders bend platnum?, would the same principles follow for gold, silver and diamonds?

Eh, if i was going to convince my 18-year old daughter to join my socialist-terrorism views, i wouldn't expect she'd actually pick a boyfriend over me. I mean, no way Sato thought that Asami liked Mako *that* much.

It's likely a purity thing. But, the same principles would likely apply, throw a pure diamond at an earthbender and he's screwed.

Sato working with the Equalists is interesting. Especially if he has ties to Sokka as some people have theorized. Knew Asami wasnt going to go along when she took the glove, but it was still cool. And we finally got to see Tenzin do some fighting.

True but I would have thought he would have rationalised it by saying he was going to make them like "us" sort of like "stay here we're just going to take your boyfriends bending then you can have him back" kind of thing.

I also just realized something funny.. When Korra was "spying" on Sato shewas actually leaving the bathroom, like acontinuity thing.. since her excuse is always that she is going to the bathroom when she gets caught out HA

@the OP: Thank you for starting a new thread just for an episode! I'm sorry to the others about the book 1 thread, but I just got fed up with all the side talk about the avatar state and who died etc. I would prefer to see the actual episode being talked about and then worry about the rest later on.

I agree. I mean just because she's friggin hot, why must she be the villain? Can't this 'team' have a non bender? I concider her as potentially like Suki, girl that can fight but doesn't have any powers. Rather than using a sword, maybe she can be their technical expert. I just don't see the need to make her evil.

Now as for the informant leading the group into a trap, Ok that totally threw me off, good job there. Seeing Lin use the 'earth vision' ala Toph, was awesome! Seeing the limits of metal bender abilities was also pretty cool. But Platinum? I know this is not our world, but isn't that metal expensive? I can see steel as it is stronger and purer than iron. I dunno, that was my main question.

Hi I know I'm new but I I've been reading these threads since the new series started and I just had a thought what if Mr.Sato is our character with the moral problems? Because if you think about it this powerful guy just lost his huge company and most important he lost his daughter. You would think since she is all he has that he would want to keep her on his side and since he felt so strongly about losing hi wife to the benders that he would feel the same way towards the equalist for making his daughter choose sides against him. So in order to regain his HONOR he will betray Amon and help the benders by showing them how defeat his robots since he created them and knows them inside and out and ultimately regaining his HONOR and also regaining his company and his daughters trust and the cities trust. Just a thought.

I honestly have no idea WHY people ever suspected Asami of being an Equalist, except for dumb reasons.

"She's Korra's rival in love!" And thus she must be evil, right?

"She's a non-bender!" This is the most ironic: fans suspect her of being an Equalist due to they themselves having an Equalist mindset in reverse: if a character doesn't bend, then they're evil!

"She's too nice!" So a nice person can't just be a nice person? And it's not like she doesn't have a rough side.

"She resembles Azula!" Maybe a little, with the black hair and lipstick, but other than that, I don't see much resemblence, and I CERTAINLY do not see any hints that she's a sociopathic mastermind like Azula was and could pull off a convicing elaborate undercover act like this. She's completely sincere.

"Helping fund the Fire Ferrets was a trick!" Yes....of her father's, not her's.

So yeah, I say Asami is innocent until proven guilty, and odds are, she never WILL be proven guilty.

Dumb reasons they may be, but the fact is most writers use those dumb reasons to make romantic rivals into villains. They are either villains or the writers demonize them to jusify breaking them up so the main character can get with his or her love interest. I wouldn't critize fans for believing Asami could be evil for reasons like she is Korra's rival. It is writers fault for using that storyline so often that fans expect the worse of romantic rivals. It is a cliche for a reason.

A great episode. Not as good as last week. But yeah it some funny moments like Bolin saying "I vote makeover." I loved that bonding Korra and Asami had in the opening act.

I thought at first Mr. Sato was a red herring and the real culprit was somone inside his company. But by the end of the secord act, I begin to think it was him.

BTW, the end of the first act when Korra ran away out of the mansion, just me or it is similar to the end of act 1 of episode 219 of the original series, when Katara spoted Zuko and Iroh in the tea shop.

For me, the thing about Asami being too nice is that it wasn't really shown until this past episode that there was any depht to her character. She was just this beautiful, nice rich girl but there wasn't any other sides to her shown up till now. I think Korra saying that she used to think Asami was just a prissy rich girl was kinda commenting on that?

Criticizing her for being too nice without other depths is one thing and completelyunderstandable;I'm alsoreally glad this episode gave her some depths (her wild streak, friendship with Korra, angst about her father, etc.)and that she'll likely continue to get it now that she's going to be living with Korra, Mako, and Bolin.

Saying that she's too nice so therefore she MUST be EVIL, on the other hand....dumb. Just dumb.

But this is Mike and Bryan we're talking about. They usually don't go the cliche route (best example being Zuko: at the moment where his turn to the good side would be the most obvious, he instead decides to go full-out evil! It's only after living his dream of having his honor restored and being at his father's side and realizing it's not at all satisfying like he thought it would be that he finally gets it and joins Aang's group.)

The demonization of a rival love interest just doesn't feel like Mike and Bryan's style, and fans should know it.
