A friend of mine had this theory and I thought I'd share it with you. To put it simply, when Azula killed Aang at the end of Season 2 of 'The Last Airbender', and was subsequently brought back by Katara using the Spirit Oasis Water, the Avatar cycle was divided into twoseparatecycles, the physical, and the spiritual. Aang could still access the spiritual side of things, but he shared it with a Water tribe born at the moment he died by Azula's hand, who probably never truly realized his potential in his.her lifetime. By the time Korra was born, an Earth Kingdom Avatar had already been born with the Spiritual half, this was Amon. Tragedy twisted his destiny as the Avatar into using the Spiritual side of his power to seek balance tainted by the lust for vengeance. As to what the resolution of this could be, I cannot say, but in a weird way it makes a lot of sense.

I first had this theory, but that would mean that the water bender was only 30 when he died. Amon has to be older than 40+

Also he was in the avatar state when he died, wasn't he? So the cycle would not have continued.

Every time someone posts the Avatar: The Last Buffy theory, a kitty cries.

Okay, that was rude of me, but, that theory has been made many times and it just doesn't add up/make sense, and it's really just a storyline from Buffy.

How about how Amon became Amon? Not his identity, just how he became the insane person that he is.

Actually, it'd be rating suicide to put a new episode on Memorial Weekend. So blame America.

I presonally thought it would make more sense to air it during a holdiay since everyone would be at home and would wanna watch tv. Then again we rarely go on vacations anymore, so I might just be basing this on myself xD

Don't live in the states huh?

Memorial Weekend is a weekend at the end of May to honor the soliders in the U.S and to remember those who have died serving our country.
