    Anyone can make an arguement that Aang is too young for Katara, but in 6-7years, it wouldn't make a difference. To be honest, I am a zutarian deep down but no should give Kataang a hard time just because of an age difference.

    AANG AND KATARA ARE THE EXACT SAME AGE DIFFERENCE APART AS KATARA AND ZUKO. It's so insane that some Zutarians (some, not all!)still don't get this. A 12-year-old and a 14-year-old can't happen, but a 14-year-old and a 16-year old can? That doesn't even make sense!

    So far I've heard two reasons that explain why Zutarians think the age difference is weirder:

    1) The guy is younger than the girl, and/or

    2) Aang is too young.

    Okay. Let's look at both of those. 1 is basically just stupid. Anyone who's bothered by the fact that the girl is older than the guy is obviously just looking for a reason to put Kataang down. Seriously, what difference does that make? Is it just sexier for the guy to be older and completely pubescent?

    2 isthe onethat I hear most of the time. "Aang's only 12, he's too young to be in love, blah blah blah". Have you even considered how incredibly intelligent and wise Aang is for his age? He's more mature than a lot of 16-year-old guys I know! Seriously. He's wise and mature way beyond his years. Besides, you can't put age restrictions on emotions, and that's exactly what love is: an emotion.

    Oh, andjust one more little tip to some Zutarians I know (again, some, not all!):Aang being smaller than Katara is not a logical reason to hate a ship.

    Just my two cents about the subject.

    I totally agree with you, and not just because I'm akataanger. I've been noticing some relationship between Aang and Katara since season one that is more than just friendship. It's obvious that Aang really likes her, maybe love. The problem is Katara. I honestly think she loves him back, but that's just my opinion. But I really don't see how people got Zutara. I mean, there was that one time where they were in a cave together and people all of a sudden say they're going to be together. Reason why? Because they "look" like a cute couple. Just because Aang is shorter doesn't mean anything. I really like Kataang because, well, I guess because of their personalities and the way they act towards eachother. I think it's really cute and they deserve eachother.

    If you want to bash me, it's fine. I'm new here as you can see. I've had this account for a couple of months but I've been a lurker for a while. I just posted to get it out of me

    my only problem is that you're confusing responsibility with maturity. jsut because aang is intelligent and responsibly, doesn't mean he's mature. no matter how you slice it, maturity takes experience, and experience takes time. the age gap argument isn't based on numbers, it's based their developmental levels

    Would either happen with so much speculation about them both? Will there ever be a relationship or just the hint of one?

    I am for Katara and Zuko myself. Aang is just a boy, uncomplicated and his story appears to be based in coming to terms with who he is and his destiny, whilst being a kid. A destiny he wouldn't be able to achieve without the support of his friends. (Sort of like Harry and Hermione).I imagine the relationship he has with Katara will be stronger for them not being involved.

    And Katara is his best friend. She is his support. Not really a relationship that has its basis in anything romantic, particularly considering her overwhelming sense of responsibility for him. There is no tension there, no spark, but more of a comfortable easiness and security. And yeah, he'll grow up but she already has.

    Zuko is far more passionate, disciplined and mature. And there is just such dichotomy in their differences; sun/moon, fire/water, life/destruction. Yet fundamentally they are similar; faithful, persistent, idealistic, with an innate sense of justice and integrity. Their similarities and opposites mean they effect one another on such profound levels.

    He disturbs her, threatens her and challenges her. All of the things Aang doesn't. She has such a wealth of preconceived notions and Zuko challenges all of those whilst being someone she is not responsible for. He is as passionate as she is and she can't pigeonhole him.

    i'd say go kataang because 1. zutara is mainly about fanfics (not whats seen in the show)

    2. they would be an awesome couple (whereas zutara is mainly just thinking about making steam babies)

    3, its a kids show they wouldnt leave the main character broken hearted at the end of the series.
