I can never make up my mind why I watch this show - I am torn. Part of me watches it for the beautiful story, the messages, the good plot, the sheer presence of the characters and their tale. That part of me is the rabid Kataanger and Aang fan. Then there's the other part of me: the Azula fanboy that watches this show purely for Azula

Actually, the beginning of the first season isn't nearly as spectacular as the rest of the series. But, after the season finale, things REALLY pick up. Each season finale is BEYOND epic, and it's totally worth watching every other episode even if you hate it. The season finales are LEGENDARY. It's insane.

This show has tons of things to discuss. Even after the series is over we're still discussing things. It's not clear-cut like every other show. The writers make us work to find hidden things. That's why so many people post on here; because there's so much to talk about!

Yeah. But, to Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, it had left lots of unanswered questions and yet, there's nothing to talk about.
But, yeah, it kinda has some open questions. I wonder how much mystories are there?

But the thing is there aren't many unanswered questions. There are some, but they're well hidden in the plot line. And it's not just unanswered questions, it's character development and shipping arguments and symbolism and everything! It's just so filled with beauty.

Like Naruto. It's like a deep story that needs to fill up with answers. Which spawns a lot of questions...

    Wow. Deep.

Absolutely NOT like Naruto. Naruto keeps getting drawn on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. Avatar has been planned from the beginning. There were no changes, and if any very few. The only big change I can think of at the moment is Toph being made a girl. Naruto is very obvious in its character development and things, Avatar is more of a challenge to find.

Except for the whole Toph boy/change thing. But still, I think chances are, I'll love it!

I concur with what Isabel said. The best thing about this show is that it was planned out from the begining, and the writers refused to change anything just to suit the fans. As a result, everything in the story ties together perfectly, right down to the tinniest details. For some excellent examples of this, go to the "Forshadowing in Avatar" thread. Some of the stuff in there is quite frankly incredible.

It's a good thing they stuck with their beginning plans, too, or else Zutara would've happened.

Yeah... and then I ruined everything in that RPG

I'm definitely going to shipping hell for that one.

Aww, you're not going to shipping hell. I think shippings are just... well, fun!

One of these days you'll have to sit down and read through all of the New Offical Kataang/Zutara Battlefield thread posts. Once you're through with that, you will understand what a serious business shipping is (or you'll just draw the perfectly logical conclusion that shippers are madder than Azula, Bumi, and Sokka all put together).

It's too true. Shipping is a very serious business in these forums. The Kataangers and Zutarians have been at war since time began.

Well the only shipping I take seriously is Cosmo and Wanda, Talax (Timmy and Alax) Juandissimo and Blonda, and Reggie (Remy and Maggie)
But, in my choise, I pick Kataang. Because, with althose hints, with the fact of a natural funny name!

Anyway, back on topic, you'll find that if you ask around, almost everyone will say that they initially thought the show was fairly average, but then saw one episode that really conected with them, and suddenly they fell in love with the series and began to truly appreciate it's sheer beauty. Once you see that special episode that connects with you above all the others, often for a completely illogical reason, you will view the show in a whole different light. For me, it was 208 - The Chase. I don't know why, but this episode was the one that transformed me into a true avatard.
