a)the the hero getting the girl is more clich?? than the villain-turned hero getting the girl.

b)the symbolism i was reffering to is NOT the painfully obvious fire/water bit. having zuko fall for the water tribe peasant would be the ultimate culmination to his development away from the proud, honor-bound, prince he is at the start.

c)yes aesthetically pleasing. they look better together than aang and katara, in my opinion. it's not my only reason for shipping zutara, but it's certainly one of them. this is very visual show, i think aesthetics have some importance.

d) i didn't say she doesn't love aang, but loving someone doesn't necessarily mean you're attracted to them romantically. e)no one assumes zuko and katara would suddenly forget all the hostility between them and fall in love. it's a process. there is a whole season to go, you know. and i never once said that zutara would happen or that kataang wouldn't. you're the one that said

First thing's first, I already pointed out I had been too dismisive with my "kataang will happen no questions asked" statement and by the way, I only ever said that because the title said "which will happen". And yes, it's true that it's still just speculation and that there's still a third of the show left and anything could happen, but like I said, what I was doing is pointing out what is likely to happen AT THE MOMENT. Could it change, could everything end up meaning nothing afterall? Yes, and I acknowledge that, but say what you will, as of right now, Kataang is more canon than any other ship and until proven otherwise, it's safe to say so.

A) the hero getting the girl is cliche, but not necessarily more...with the Zutara/Kataang triangle, either way it would be cliche, the only way to avoid the cliche would be to have Katara die...But yeah, either way it's cliche (whether it's more or not really depends on opinion, I personally have seen more the contrary but hey...). So this little example is dead, since both are guilty of it.

B) This is what I had forgotten before...something I wanted to point out; one of the reasons that I don't like the ship. I personally, don't think putting him in a relationship with someone of lower social status is the best way to illustrate the culmination of his character arc. There are many other, less dramatic, ways of going about depicting his character growth and who says it would have to be Katara? if you want to be technical, Zuko has already dated someone of lower social status, Jin, thus proving that it's not above him to date people who would be seen as socially inferior. It's been done. Maybe he didn't marry her, but he kissed her and within all likelyhood no one is going to get married on the show, so what does it matter? Really, the only symbolism that seems to be exclusively Zutara IS the painfully obvious water and fire/yin and yang thing, but people aren't subatomic particles, they don't have charges and they're no magnets, so opposites won't always attract.

C) Everyone is entitled to opinion, and there's no crime in thinking that two particular characters look better together, I just flipped out because I obviously felt that was a rather vain reason. While the show IS visual, friendship and strong bonds have always taken precedence over imagery. And I'm not gonna lie, personally I don't see it. This is an opinion thing, and there's no right or wrong answer, so this is just my personal opinion. I honestly think that Katara and Aang look better. I mean, everyone embellishes Katara a little. She's not that much more mature than Aang, I mean some of the versions I see of Katara on deviantart are just plain ridiculous. It's not like Katara is 20 years older, she's two years older, just two and...she's kind of stuck in the middle, she could go either way and it would work out fine, she's not too immature for Zuko and she's not too mature for Aang (contrary to popular belief).??
^This particular instance is a matter of opinion as well, so we can end this little argument.

D) I'm aware love doesn't mean romantic interest, but who's to say she DOESN'T have romantic interest in Aang, and what's more, who's to say that she DOEShave romantic interest, let alone any interest, in Zuko? Contrary to popular belief, Katara has been known to show romantic interest in Aang (or at least more so than any other character). What with the cave of two lovers, (Katara blushed constantly in that episode, and what can be dismissed as embarrassment is made up for at the end when Katara looks to the side and blushes, smile on her face...that was not embarassment my friend), she made up an excuse to kiss Aang with her "so sweet of Zuko" comment, granted, she could've just been real happy, but then again she could've just hugged him again, and she pushed Sokka away from what was an attempted familial kiss and then at the end of the episode she kisses Aang. Subtle, interpretive but it's still more than what you've got for any other Katara ship (even Jetara was just a one-sided crush that didn't end too well). Plus, whether or not at the moment she has romantic interest in Aang, she certainly has INTEREST??and that's a hell of a lot more than you can say for Zutara as of right now.

E) The Zutara process would take much longer, IMHO, than what we have left of the show to see, considering that the show is about Aang facing the Fire Lord and not ships and twenty episodes with 1 or 2 of them being largely shipping is not enough, as opposed to a Kataang relationship which has been developing since the very, very first episode (maybe ep. 1 for Aang, ep. 14 for Katara, but they've still got the advantage). And as far as developing a relationship between the two goes, in theory, anyone who is sexually attracted to someone else, should be able to "develop" a relationship as long as both are willing to it. So yeah, they COULDdevelop interest in each other, but why would they?Especially when, like I've said on many occasion, they have no interest in each other and there are already two other ships that they're entangled in (Kataang and Maiko).?? ??

Another reason I don't like the ship is because it's of fan invention. It's not an organic ship, and not for nothing the Zuko and Katara in the Zutara fan fics and especially the fan art are usually much different from the canon Zuko and Katara. Their appearances differ (but then that would depend on the artist and their interpreatation) but what's more is that their characters are much, much different also, so it's like their not shipping the characters at all, just their names and basic design (the scar and the loopies and the like). Like I've said before I don't ship, so maybe I don't understand the crazier side of shipping, why people would get so stuck on any one ship in particular. Kataang and Maiko seem most likely to happen, so for all intents and purposes, you could say I ship them, as in when it comes to shipping wars I'd side with them, but I would never engage in any kind of shipping war if it were not purely for the sake of debate.

at this point i don't have it in me to argue anymore, but even if i did, i must say there's not much i disagree with you about. let me just point out a few things. one: you're on a shipping thread, debating over ships, you're a shipper by definition. embrace the dorky goodness, and two: again, i'm not trying to convince you that zutara is better than kataang. it just appeals to me for a variety of reasons and i was just trying to defend it.

And i'm not trying to convince you that Kataang is better, I just argue for the sake of argument, and I chose to defend certain ships because they just seem more canon to me, I don't have a preference for who ends up with who, but I'm not gonna lie, I do have one for who doesn't end up with who. In other words, I don't like Zutara, for reasons that are of little importance so I won't repeat them. So I always side with Kataang, so I guess you're right, I "ship", if not only by default.

Well I can''t seem to go wrong with people voting for Zutara but there really isn't any real prof or evidence that this could happen. But still why would people believe it would happen I mean at the end of Avatar the last air bendercomes what will the Zutara fans do when they found out how wrong they were in believing that Katara would get together with Zuko. Think of it this way if it did really happen for one Aang would be crushed, Sokka would be down right furious, she'd lose all her self respect she had for her self, people would think of her differently and what would her father do when he found out shewas dating theenemy especially her enemy. And the list could just go on and on and on and on.

There is a difference between what people "Want to happen" and "What will happen". Zutara is a fanfic.. it was just made up by fans. Kataang.. actually has proof and they have developed over the last 2 season. If Katara goes with Zuko everyone will get angry... aang crushed.. and everyone confused why the enemies of the enemies got together..., but Kattang.. on the other hand Aang would be happy and all the people around him.. come on are you really gonna crush aangs heart for zuko!?
