Well....I just came upon some astonishing information.?? First off, if you're standing up, please sit down (but who the heck is standing while on the computer??).?? Then take a deep breath.....

Ok....the following quote comes from an article which can be found here:

"Ms. Zarghami cites Nickelodeon???s willingness to invest in shows for the
long term as something that sets it apart from rivals. As an example,
she points to ???Avatar: The Last Airbender,??? an anime-inspired cartoon
that took six years to go from idea to a completed first episode, much
longer than normal. Last season it was the eighth-highest rated
animated children???s series, according to Nielsen."

The thing that obviously stands out is the SIX YEARS!?? Six years to go from an idea to a series...that is amazing.?? If you don't have respect for Nickelodeon now, I don't know what to tell you...they stuck with this thing for SIX YEARS!?? They could have easily stopped production and said "screw you" to the creators. But they didn't.?? It's amazing to find this out.

I don't think Nick would stay with Avatar for six years without doing a little more than the 3 seasons that were planned.

    *pulls out calculator*

So.....it's nine months to make an episode, and six years is 72 months, so they should have how many seasons?

    8.

This changes how I look at Nick a lil bit. They may use some strange methods(in marketing it or resheduling episodes with nary an explaination)??but they knew what the creators were potentially looking at a goldmine. I still wish they'd loosen the reigns on censoreship a bit. There is??a war??in this show yet we haven't seen one scene of aftermath, no destroyed towns or recent battlefields. Closest we've come is the remains of a burned forest and Gyatso's skeleton...

Edit: And btw top 8 is that ALL animated programs world wide or what?

I've never said this before but God bless Nickelodeon!!! Avatar has been the most fantastic installment of serial animation I have seen in years. As far as I recall, I can only think of a few animes that I would actually call better than Avatar-and that's saying something because I only watch the best anime. That makes it over to American shores, anyway.
