    I can see a 'Dark Avatar' as a possiblity of a future villian. But one with multiple possiblities of occuring. From a dark reflection of the Avatar, to a mystical process of binding elemental spirits to a person, to steal a person's bending to an evil spirit with knowledge of multiple bending. If it is natural for the world to have one Avatar and a second one shows up, it could bring chaos until there is only one. Things like the elements going crazy and supernatural diasters occuring. I am not sure about Shadowbending, but I can see tainted bending as a possible future plot element. The idea that the taint increases a person's bending powers and skills but corrupts the element and the person is a good plot element. One that could work independant or working with the Dark Avatar element. Also with the Comet, it could be a prison but it could also be an omen. Perhaps a signal in a prophecy that hints at a future trouble that could be occuring in the future. Or it could be a key to a gate that seals a greater evil that can act more in the world as the seals are opened.

    Just some randoms thought. But we must know that the creators might have a few wild cards up their sleeves.

    This quote was from my 'Dark Avatar Agenda' post, but I felt a response needed to be placed here. I was watching my DVD of Beast Wars Season 2, when I saw the part where the satellite was blown up by Optimus Primal (for a clip of the season two intro which includes this scene, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Da6BDlOYB4). Subsequently, a wave of energy washed over the world, altering the forms of some of the Transformers. I thought that maybe a similar approach could be used in Avatar. In order to keep the Comet from being used agian, Aang destroys it, but inadvertantly unleashes the Comet's corrupting power all at once, creating corrupted versions of benders with already tainted and corrupt spirits, such as Azula and perhaps a resurrected Zhao (especially if he becomes something not human). In addition, I still think shadowbending could be included in this as a new form of bending.

    Since I have dropped my "Lightbending" aspect of my theory in favor of the combined elements being the only way to push back the shadows, I've also decided to switch the WingTsun discipline as shadowbending. For a video clip, click this link:

    Note, this is spoken in Polish, but watch the yellow tinted portions of the video for demonstration footage of the martial art.

    Mabe Fire Lord Ozai is the Dark Avatar, since he supposebly was giving Aang bad dreams in the Episode in Book 1: Water Chapter 12:"The Strorm"

    I heard this before by another user, but, mabe Princess Yue was supposed to be the next Avatar, but since Aang had not died in the iceburg, the Avatar spirit in Yue's body had not been "active", or turned on, bu when the Moon Spirit possesed her, she awoke from her deep sleep. It is not possible, since her hair was white, and her eyes are white-ish blue. Remember, Aang, when he goes in the Avatar State, his eyes and tatoos turn white, and glow.

    "C.) Origin 3: The 'Darkness Within ' Scenario

    We have seen this in the canon series when Aang demanded to know where Appa was taken in "The Desert". The distortion of the voice overlay had a very dark overtone to it. This scenario seems to be the most likely in part where Aang has an internal battle with a Dark Avatar." - Gantros

    As in depth as your theories may be, and I do give you props for that, the third scenerio seems a little unlikely. Emotion changes a person's voice, stature, and actions. A great loss, such as that of a lifelong companion, is enough to change wreak havoc with a person's voice and actions. It is not the Dark Avatar attempting to take control, only the physiological effects of a extremely powerful emotion.

    This is a very interesting theory, very well thought out. But, if this anti-Aang was to ever exist, would we have to call him a doppelgaanger. Ok, sorry, that was really bad .

    The Dark Avatar should be a new charchter for sure, also there should be time in between Ozai's defeat and the D.A. appearing the charchters should become young adults. Other then that I really like it.

    I like the idea. Very well thought out. I was surprised to see you even gave them contrasting martial arts styles. Very good. I think it'd be pretty awesome to see something like a final showdown of two "teams". Kind of like when the power rangers would meet their opposites. Like this:

    Aang = Air
    Zuko = Fire
    Katara = Water
    Toph = Earth
    Iroh = Light
    Sokka = Warrior/back up

    And it wouldn't be too far out there for Azula to assemble her own team. Those two girls with her could learn either air or water respectively and she could recruit someone from the Earth Nation, and then seek out a shadow bender to oppose Iroh.

    It could be done over say 4 episodes at the end of Season 4 as a way for the series to go out with a bang. One HUGE final battle.

    If the dark avatar exist, he is part of Aang.
    The Avatar must return balance to the world, the yin yang simbol means balance. So, if Aang is just the white side of the simbol, or just the light, he is unbalanced. Is it possible to an unbalanced power restore balance to the world?

    Why is this being bumped? We are already only like 4 episodes away from the finale. Seriously, if there was a Dark Avatar, dont you think it would have appeared by now?

    First off, welcome to the forums.

    Before we become best buds, I'd like to tell you that "necroing" a thread (or bringing an old thread "back from the dead") is not a practice we encourage.

    In the future, limit yourself to posting on threads that are on the first page of the forum.

    This thread's discussion ended in 2006. That was two years ago. Let the thread rest in peace.

    But its your first post, so your mistake is understandable. I made tons of mistakes in my first few weeks.

    And what makes Aang a perfect little angel? Every person has good and bad inside them. Haven't you seen him beating down those sandbenders and whatnot?

    I like the dark avatar idea. Thanks for coming up with it, Gantros. I think the dark avatar should have been Katara. She is close to Aang's heart and it would give the creators the opportunity to further probe the significantly large "dark side" of waterbending.

    Why exactly is "thread necromancy" bad? It's not like we're bringing back bad threads.

    III.) Who should be the Dark Avatar?

    A.) Princess Azula

    I feel Azula would make the best candidate because her perfectionist nature would allow her to learn the four elements (Air, Water, Earth, and Shadow) very rapidly, perhaps even faster than Aang did. This reduces the time gap between seasons 3 and 4 and allows for the nations to become complacent and ripe for a new conflict.

    B.) 'Dark' Aang

    A Dark Aang would make for an interesting internal battle, but wouldn't have much dramatic impact on the world for a whole story arc.This also smacks of Anakin/Vader.

    C.) Unknown Character

    Perhaps the Dark Avatar is already here, hiding behind the scenes, his/her fingers moving the pieces into position for 100 years.

    It sould be an earth bender sense earth is the oposite of air so:

    Avatar Dark Avatar

    air earth

    water fire

    earth air

    fire water
