If every cool character lived, then nobody would share a characters emotions when a character they don't like dies. They just wouldn't care.

I think that Aang is going to have to "trade"??Toph for??Sppa somehow with the kidnappers. If it was my choice I'd have her go back home late season two, have the guy in the intro finish teaching Aang earthbending, and have her come back to the group in early season three.

    Toph - originally a boy

I refuse to believe the writers were that shortsighted.

It is so hard to say "But I BELIEVE they were?"

You don't know everything. I'm simply stating my opinion. Do you really think that the creators envisioned a male Toph giggling through the swamp? The only answer is, that they didn't have the swamp planned. And if they didn't have the Swamp planned, who's to say what they did and didn't have planned in the first place? I simply said what I would do if it was my choice.

Something bad is definitely going to happen to Toph. Aang saw her in the Swamp, and the swamp guy told them that the Swamp gives people visions of people they had cared about, people that were gone. Then he said that time is an illusion, and that is why Aang was able to see someone that he didn't know yet. Anyway, the point is that since Aang saw a vision of Toph in the Swamp, that means two things. One, Aang cares about Toph - it could be just as a friend or it could be a possible Tophaang pairing (I hope it's the former) - and two, Toph is going to disappear/die.

Well! I just went through 57 posts of discussion on this. the swamp guy ALSO said DEATH, as well as time, was an illusion. So they could THINK Toph dies or somehting, and make the viewers think that too, then it'll turn out Toph is really alive somewhere, somehow, cause she never died in the first place. Ya know, illusion.

Is the avatar state the pinnacle of Aang's rage? Oh is it possible that the death of Toph could produce more impressive emotional problems and interactions between affected characters lasting many episodes if not through the final season? I'm just saying you people need to think wider, outside the box, in 4 dimensions, etc.

Also Toph could die but still come back in some spirit form, to provide critical information in visions or to haunt others! What was it Merlin said when he came back: "A dream to some, A NIGHTMARE TO OTHERS!!!"

Curse the swamp episode. They just HAD to put Toph there and make people believe she will die.

While the swamp episode did leave some pretty convincing arguments, it also lead Aang to Toph (because he would never have persisted Toph to teach him if he hadn't "seen" her in the swamp). Maybe it was fate that lead the two together and, thus, fate that Toph would eventually pass on...

Time is an illusion, as well as death. So while it may seem that Toph is going to die now, it doesn't mean she will. She can just die of natural causes (old age). But then I also think people say she is going to die because of her blindness. She can't sense people's moves everytime, and she will eventually let her guard down/not "see" something and she gets hit.

Still, I don't want Toph to die. I will be very upset if she does.

I agree with that. I'd MUCH rather she dies of old age, rather than because someone kills her or whatever.

It is possible that Toph will simply be captured by those two guys, but I think that that would be a little far-fetched. Toph is one of the best Earthbenders in the world. She wouldn't just let them take her. Personally, dying is the only way that I see Toph going. However, she could just live and stay with the gang for the rest of the series...we'll just ave to wait and see.

Well I can't decide when ever or not her future is death she's cool but things can turn ugly what if she has to fight a Firebending master or prodigy CoughAzulaCough she won't even stand a chance against people like that.
