no, under most laws he's a minor. child is not a legal term and i didn't say tokka was illegal. as far as we know there aren't any laws against pedophilia in the avatar world, that doesn't make it ok.

i didn't say it would be magically okay in a year. it would be ok if there was enough of a time skip to redesign toph's character so that she's not a child anymore.

Are you saying that because they're still in their teens a relationship won't work out? So are all the ships in Avatar. Sounds like you expect them to get down and dirty right after the show. In a couple of years, when they are over 20, maybe even 30, do you still think that they won't work out because they're children? Or because they are a couple of years apart? Gotta tell you, it doesn't work like that. Most relationships (mature) have an age difference in them, either the woman or man being older than the other. The greatest age difference in the major ships is 3 years and thats really nothing. Your thought that people shouldn't get together because of a couple of years of age difference is only shared by a small percentage of the population and 10$ says that Mike and Brian aren't in that group.

There, there, Tokkarians, I know how much you consider age difference to be insignificant. I mean, there is a big space between my age and that of my girlfriend (I'm 20 and she is 31), but the age difference doesn't work well if it's the other way 'round(ifI were 20, and she were 9)!

sokka's not a child. one could argue that he's a young adult, since he has completed his rite of passage and been accepted by his fellow warriors as a peer, but he's and the very least at the end of his adolescence. it should be pretty clear that regardless of numerical age the difference between childhood and adolescence is a huge one.

15 is later on time for guys to be a third of the way through puberty, 12 is a lower age for girls to be a thrid of th way through puberty, as noones talk about it, they could both have just started puberty for all we know.

This is true. If the creators decide to do an epilogue episode (which, btw looks very possible with all the loose ends that we will invevitably be left with), they can easily fast forward a few years to when the gaang is a little older. Then Sokka and Toph won't be kids anymore, and it won't be so weird.

I dunno if you noticed but pedophil normal needs one to young and one to old your obviously going by US age (which does vary) but on average (by which I mean all but one or two states) Sokka is also too young. In Asian countries Toph is perfectly old enough to be in a relartionship and they wouldn't have a problem with Toph and Sokka getting together.

adolescence is not based on age, it's a stage in psychological and physical development and "teenage years" just a convenient label that's really only used in english speaking countries.

there's no question that toph is a child. she's still at the stage where she doesn't even know how to express her crush other than picking on sokka. sokka, on the other is considered a man by his own tribe's rules and customs, and despite being a goof, has shown that he has the emotional maturity to be in a real relationship.

the gap isn't in age, it's in psychological and emotional development.
