Guys I have not read 'Sozin's Comet' and so this is a spoiler-free topic essentially.

But in today's online issue of ToonZone reviewer Ed Liu makes a rather startling statement and I want to know your thoughts on it.

"The sense of finality to "Sozin's Comet" is also noteworthy. Franchises seem to be the theme of the day at many media companies, with many movies and TV shows getting more and more brazen at leaving doors wide open for interminable sequels and spin-offs. There are definitely unresolved plot elements and unanswered questions by the end of "Sozin's Comet," and it is unquestionable that Avatar's creators, its fans, and Nickelodeon all want more stories set in the richly engrossing Avatar world. Even so, "Sozin's Comet" provides a powerful sense of closure to Aang's story. This tale is Finished."

    Direct Review Link: http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=25010

Guys that capitial 'F' in finished is NOT a typo.

Get it? Jesus' last words before dying on the cross: "It is finished."

Holy crap, surely Mike and Bryan have not opted to kill Aang off and therefore Mr. Liu can say with great certainty that 'Aang's tale is Finished?'

    Your thoughts?

Possibly. I'm hoping, that IF he dies, the cycle won't be broken.

Dang, what's with all of the Aang-Jesus parallels recently? What with him coming back to life, preaching forgiveness and now this?

Technically, Aang is the equivalent to Jesus in his world, so...these comparisons are relevant.

    Qasim,

    Remove your post, please.

We want to speculate, not be spoiled. If you don't, you're going to get reported by a whole lot of people.

I dunno. If it weren't for the fact that he's the sole hope of the Airbenders coming back, I would say yes. No airbenders means no more Avatar, unless the cycle reconfigures itself to skip Air, and make it become [Water --> Earth --> Fire --> repeat].
*shrugs* But I have no clue how that works, so...

I have been spoiled but I'm still looking forward to how it all plays out. And the battle looks absolutly epic from what I've seen. I actually hope Aang doesn't kill Ozai so he can prove violence isn't always the answer. (Even if Ozai does deserve it)

Kid shows also usually don't majorly hint at sex, like TSR did.

I hope that if he dies, that the Avatar cycle is broken and that people learn to live in a world without the Avatar.

There will always be an Air bender in the Avatar cycle, regardless of how many there are left.

That's a thought. It would be a great ending.

Jeez I'm glad I didn't see this thread when it got spoiled earlier.

Per the topic: I've always said that Aang is on the hero's journey and because of that it might mean that he doesn't get to have a happy ending per se but a 'hero's ending.'

Like Frodo in LOTR, Aang may not be the same after fulfilling his destiny, making it impossible for him to have a 'normal life' with Katara.
