I think this has been done before and I checked Primo Nation's Duplicate Thread, but I don't know where I can put my theory, so I hope its ok if I make my own thread.

In the Siege of the North, Zuko said "You rise with the moon (to Katara). I rise with the sun." Waterbenders get their power from the moon and firebenders get their power from the Sun. Here's the site where I came up with my theory: http://www.skyviewzone.com/sunsign.htm

    Fire: Sun, Mars, Jupiter

    Earth: Venus, Mercury, Saturn

    Air: Mercury, Venus, Uranus

    Water: Moon, Pluto, Neptune

I know some elements belong to??the same??planets, but I noticed Water belongs to the moon and Fire belongs to the Sun.??Is it possible that benders get their??powers from the planets? What do you think???

Ok the sun isn't a 'planet' and Pluto has also been removed from the planet's list. I am willing to overlook that.
Well thought out and interesting. I'm not really sure how the other planets tie into this. They seem to small and to far away to have an entire bending nation drawing power from them. The moon is really close to earth and controls the tides, so that makes sense. The sun is large enough to give the firebenders power too, but some small planet like venus that you can't even see in the sky doesn't seem to work. Just my thoughts.

That's what I thought about the planets, but it seems like a small possibility. Sorry about the mix-up, though.

I think this is a very interesting theory. I like it, but I don't think the benders draw their power from the planets themselves. Now, if they drew the power from the spirits of the planets (you know, like the moon spirit) that would be even more interesting.

Wow! That actually might be a possibility, too.

    actually the legend shows that..
firebenders learned bending from the sun + that comet or something.

waterbenders learned bending from the moon pulling the tides

so that tells us they are stronger with the moon and sun. but

earthbenders learned bending from freeking moles or whatever. airbenders .. ? what did they lear bending from

Air benders learned from Sky Bison.

airbenders Air benders learned from Sky Bison. so maybe airbenders and earthbenders are stronger when they are around sky bisons and badgers

it is not said yet what the firebenders learned from. yes, it is most likely the sun, but it could also be the dragon.

That is true, but waterbenders are stronger when the moon is up, giving them more power. Thats where they draw their power from. When I talk about the planets I meant where they got power from, not from how they learned it. Airbenders may have learned airbending from the Sky Bisons but it might be possible they obtain their power from Uranus.

Okay then here is how the bending arts were learned...

Fire-Learned from studying the BREATH of dragons which coincindentally(sp?) is fire. Jeong Jeong said that firebending is in the BREATH. The sun if a flaming ball of gas so if ya think for a sec that sozin's comet was on fire it would give them more power.

Air-Learned from the sky bisons that is why airbending masters have those tattos, because the sky bison have them and they are respecting their first teachers. Nothing gives them a power up.

Earth-Learned from studting BADGERMOLES by Oma and Shu as stated in the episode Cave Of Two Lovers. Shu died Oma got P.O.ed and ended some big war, then taught others earthbending. They got no special power advantage althiugh they are much deadlier when on the rock ground that they bend, as seen with Toph, who cant bend unles she is on solid ground.

Water-Learned from studying the tides, which is caused by the mooh, so if you think logically they push and pull the water as stated by Katara in the Waterbending Scroll, that would be like a little kid pushing a heavy rock then having its big brother come up and fling the rock away. It augments their power.??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    Whoo! Hope that helps.

Your fire theory makes some sense. If that is how they learned to bend their element, than is it possible that the planets listed above gives them their power to bend or make them more powerful? Like the moon gives waterbenders more power?

The planets idea is plausible but until the creators say it is I reserve judgement. And I meant to say that firebenders absorb solar energy(wow I just got scientifiky!), waterbenders don't absorb lunar energy the spirits give them hope and courage but so does most religions, I guess the big brother anaolgy didn't work because the moon is like a big waterbender. Its like having a huge army of water benders behind every one bender helping them push and pull. You see? The sun doesn't help firebenders to breath which is how they bend. Its like a big sozins comet, but farther away.

Salking you dont get the point here, its IMPOSSIBLE that ANYONE could get any power from ur listed planets. they are just to far away! the fire benders only get a power boost when the comet arrives and gets close enough to the earth. they dont have this power-up always, you know why? because its TO FAR AWAY. they have to wait a hundred years for its returnal everytime.

btw, we dont know how the fire benders learned how to fire bend yet... we only know that they use breath control for a proper fire bending control. fow all we know they leanred it from Ozai's comet (although this is very unlikely).
