Aside from the part that saw Katara give up her hared from Zuko we gained nothing at all from this episode. They wasted an entire episode to clarify one thing that we all knew, that Katara's mother was dead...and just further developed the character of Katara.

It raises questions about the final battle and finishes up the story ark of Katara's mother.

Not only that... it also shows why Katara is more affected by her mother's death than Sokka-besides the fact that she the more emotional one. She saw everything as it was about to take place (her mothers death) and it was because her mother was protecting her (no surprise there). That's kind of a big deal IMO

First off all this was a great episode, I loved the main story of Katara wanting to get revenge on this guy, and who could blame him after actully seeing the scene when he killed her mother. She used Bloodbending, I knew she would.

Katara didn't need to get revenge on this guy, because life beat her to it, leaves with his mother, what a sorry excuse life. And him saying you can kill my mother, just pathic. But Katara is right, he is not worth it.

Though am I the only one who finds it so wrong that Katara's mother is voiced by the same person that voices Azula.

The comic relief with Sokka in that position in the tent, that was priceless. I liked Aang's line about it being Katara's turn to go on a field trip with Zuko, I love the writers for writing that line, it shows they don't think the audiance is stupid.

And I thought Azula's line of celeberating becoming a only child, might have been her best line in the series, and she has many great villain lines. And I love her with her hair down, she looks like a whole different person. And you notice Zuko actully showed concern for her well being, when he said "She is not going to make it."

And the ending wraps everything back to the main story, and it is about Aang and weather he will kill Ozai, and sets up the finally beautifully. Though I say this to Zuko, "What are you going to when you face Azula?" It works both ways Zuko. I hope somebody either Sokka, Katara, or Toph ask that question.

And yes this episode was a tearjerker.

    10 out of 10

\Very good analogy. The Zuko/Azula thing must foreshadow something later in the finale. Zuko might try to protect Azula later on. Maybe Azula will kill him in the end? It just, overall, was a phenomenal episode.

So it's agreed that this episode was epic? I wonder how long it'll take it for it to find it's way on to the Internet.

You've also got to realize Sokka forgave their father must faster than Katara did. She was angry at him, as shown in episode 301 obviously. She's very attached to the people she loves.

Great episode. One more until the comet arrives. I've never been this excited for new episodes of a cartoon.

i think this episode had HUGGGEEEEEEEEEEEE potential and i was kinda dissapointed by it. it was too crammed and i felt no emotion at all(possibly because it was crammed and we didn't connect enough with katarra) i loved how her mother died to protect her but they should have had more anticipation and emotion building up to that. they crammed that part into fifteen minutes and honestly it SUCKED.

as for the EIP being the last episode before the finale, i think its a great idea. its comic relief before the end and is going to sum up what has happened before the final battle. CANT WAIT!

Mother's don't seem to last long in this show do they?

this is very similar to what zuko's mother did...(though she may still be alive)

I hope we get to see Iroh before the "movie" but it looks like the players are going to fill that epi with more humor and ship than you can shake a stick at...

well, maybe if we get a spin off it'll be the Irho and the locuts....or something about tea...

Yes! So much at once in an episode!

    1) Major fight at the beginning a la Earth King

    2) Azula letting down her hair

    3) Sokka(!) letting down his hair in preparation for Suki!

    4) Katara letting down HER hair as well!

    5) Kya!

    6) Sokomo--a new ship?

    7) 'Yes it is'

    Bloodbending!

    9) I guess bending skills skip generations.

    10) The killer of katara's mom is Costanza!

    Did I miss anything else

Wow. So a lot of our theories came true,

    1. Katara's mom is named Kya.
    2. Katara was definitely going to bloodbend.
    3. The ninja outfits were definitely going to be this episode.
    4. The Ember Island Players would be the episode where Aang confesses.
    5. Kya died because of Katara. (Believe it or not I've seen that theory on fanfiction.net. They said that Kya died because she pretended that she was a waterbender to protect Katara.)
    6. The play would trigger memories and emotions.

It looks like we were wrong after all about one thing though...
The Ember Island Players isn't just going to be a relief episode from all the drama. Infact, it will affect the whole fandom and Avatar plotline.

I disagree with you on all accounts, ahahaha. I was crying during multiple points in TSR. I do think, however, that the beginning was far too long. I'm getting spoiled by episodes such as TBR that are an hour long. And EIP isn't a good idea. I don't want comic relief. I want more answers to the millions of questions that I've got. I want as much epic-ness as possible in these last episodes, and so far TSR have done a good job.
