The real truth about Azula? Well I put this also on the season three discussion too, but I don't see the harm of putting it here too. Anyway, what if Azula was more than antagonist? What if she was to be used as a different kind of tool for Ozai?
Princess Yue and Princess Azula.
The other day I had stumbled upon an artists' thoughts about these two and I couldn't help but wonder if maybe he/she was right. Princess Yue: very selfless, remorseful, and kind-hearted. She had done the ultimate sacrifice for her people; and beforehand, she would've sacrificed her happiness to marry Hahn, for her people. Also she has white hair and blue eyes, but that's really nothing. Princess Azula: (has the opposite hair color--black; and has golden eyes) is very selfish, unremorseful, and takes pleasure in people's pain. She only does things to benefit her own. The only thing these two girls have is that they're both princesses and that they were lipstick (if you compare their lips to Katara, Toph, Azula's friends' lips you'll see they actually have colored lips.) Princess Yue is someone Sokka had fallen madly in love with; and Azula is someone he'd never love.
What I'm getting at is, maybe Azula's the opposite of Yue in more than the ones I stated above. The artist had mentioned, maybe Azula was the moon's spirit other half--the ocean spirit. (Cuz the ocean spirit had represented yang? I think [bad] of the circle.) However what if Azula was the to become the sun? The moon and sun are opposites just as the two girls are; and Azula knows of the eclipse. What if the Day of Black Sun goes according to the gaang's plan and Azula somehow is sacrificed (cuz as if she'd willingly sacrifice herself) to prevent this? Or help the firebenders regain their bending during this time? If Azula was to die by the end of the series, can you not see Ozai sacrificing his daughter for what he believes to be something of more importance? It's obvious that he cares little for family.
I love Azula, and I hope she lives at the end of the series; cuz she's awesome in my opinion--but if she were to be killed off, how would it be? Anyways this was just something that occurred to me while rewatching the Siege of the North Pole. (Hope this wasn't too off topic.)

That totally hits the nail on the head. It makes perfect sense. Everything has an antithesis, so maybe Azula is Yue's. I've changed my line of reasoning from "Azula needs a hug" to "Azula is a lesbian," but this is, potentially, also an empirical truth.
