I am of a decidedly rare school of thought, one that would benefit you all to hear: Azula is not truly evil. She is mental unstable from one of life's most soul-crushing pains: Perceived lack of maternal love. When she was a little girl (as we saw in "Zuko Alone"), Fire-Lady Ursa was hardly ever anything but stern and disciplining toward Azula, while Zuko was given the full force of her love all the time. Because of this, she chose her father's way, and thus became like him. But that is not who she is on the inside. Deep, deep down in her heart, Azula is just a sad little girl who's crying and lashing out at the world because she doesn't believe that her Mommy loved her. In short, Ladies and Gentlemen, all Azula needs is a HUG. |

Oh please, you're giving her way more credit than is really due. She's nohing more than a pyscho biotch that needs to be stopped. I love Avatar and all, but not all the characters really have that much depth to them (Although, I was happily surprised by Mai).

It's scary that this turned out to be true. She needed a hug from her mommy. |

qweasdzse, I don't think I have ever seen her ass in the show, a picture would be nice... very nice. Azula could someday become good, you know like vageta or something, It woudl be nice, but its not likely. |
I don't agree. Vegeta can be better compared to Zuko, not Azula. Vegeta actually cared about his people, Azula doesn't. She only cares about herself.

Azula always showed signs of insanity and mental unstability, but that all stems from her lack of affection from her mother. The creator of this thread is right, Ursa loved and adored Zuko, but she never showed similar signs of that love to Azula. Is it not all of Ursa's fault for what Azula became?

Wow... I remember this thread from a long, long time ago.
I too congratulate the maker - you turned out to be spot on, after all.
Azula's main problem (in my opinion) is that she has absolutley no clue how to interact with people in a healthy way. All she knows how to do is manipulate and/or dominate them. She needs to learn how to show and return affection. Based on what we have seen, it seems almost incontrivertible that Ursa was the person mainly at fault for this.

Wow, even two years before this question was answered you still got it right. Kudos But Ursa was not cruel to Azula, she just simply ignored her. That's your only flaw. |
