That's only because Aang didn't have the, er, drive that Ozai had. Ozai would've happily killed Aang. Aang didn't want to kill Ozai. Plus, it doesn't matter whether Aang needs the Avatar state or not to win. He has it, and that's what counts |
wait, now im just suddenly confused. aang didn't want to kill ozai, right? he barely fought ozai before going into the AS, but when he went into the AS, he suddenly started thrashing ozai around. if he controlled the AS, then his state of mind shouldn't really change, just his power level, but after going into the AS, he went completely nuts, and he basically treated ozai like a tennis ball, and he was bouncing him all over the place.
plus if aang didn't have the drive to defeat ozail, then he is a coward compared to zuko. i mean like, when zuko first had to face his father, he was kinda chicken, but that was because he really luved his father. aang knows how evil ozai is, but he still didn't want to face him. if he willingly faced him, then he could have rid the world of his evilness. zuko didn't think he had to be fire lord, but after his uncle told him so, he willingly faced azula, because he knew that if azula was the firelord, then the world would go into danger. and the second time he confronted his father, he didn't hold back.
