The Japanese do not care for american style cartoons, as they have the ever so great Anime/Manga, but the avatar is an exception to this. I really hope Nickolodeon is smart and keeps this series running. They have a winner on their hands.

I was afraid Japan would see Avatar as a - of their ure and heritage made by chites. Forgive me for not believing you totally, for this is the first time I've heard of Japan's response to Avatar and I'm not acquainted with you personally to know if you are telling the truth, but if your words hold fact GO AVATAR!!

I do not know what you mean by telling the truth, whether you mean about me living in Japan or the Japanese response. The Japanese would not get offended anyway, becuase The Avatar is based more on the Chinese ure, a very distinct difference.

I with you though, GO AVATAR!!!

So the chinese should be offended? And whats with the title? The japenese? There human too.

Well last time I checked people from Japan are referred to as "Japanese," just people who live in the United States of America are considered American, people from Canada are Canadien, people from Spain and are Spaniards, people from France are French, people from China are Chinese. I'm not sure if this has changed in the past couple days or not. Back in the day, though, we'd call people from Japan "Japanese" and that's not an insult or calling them less than human. Someone is a bit too sensitive, aren't you?

I was afraid Japan would see Avatar as a rip-off of their culture and heritage made by chites. Forgive me for not believing you totally, for this is the first time I've heard of Japan's response to Avatar and I'm not acquainted with you personally to know if you are telling the truth, but if your words hold fact GO AVATAR!!

I do not know what you mean by telling the truth, whether you mean about me living in Japan or the Japanese response.?? The Japanese would not get offended anyway, becuase The Avatar is based more on the Chinese culture, a very distinct difference.??

?? I with you though, GO AVATAR!!!

So the chinese should be offended? And whats with the title? The japenese? There human too.

What are you talking about!!!?? Do you know what you are even talking about.?? The Japanese really like the Avatar, is the same as saying the Americans like the avatar, The French like the avatar, The Chinese like the Avatar, and so on.?? The people in Japan are called the Japanese.?? Come on ,we are talkin about a person's natinality and in no way is this a bad thing, which anyone except you can plainly see.?? I lived in Japan,?? one of the most beautiful countries, ??for over 5 years.?? The people there (Japanese) are so honorable and hard working.?? My family and I fell in love with the culture, the people, etc.??

?? I do not know if the Chinese are offended, I never lived there.

What do you call the people in Japan?

Huh, well I guess the reception would've been the same even if you had put it in your first post.

I've spent a three summers in Japan, and Disney stuff was sort of big around there. But anyway this could be due to the fact that anime comes from early Disney work and they still admire it...or the fact they just like that stuff. As for Avatar I don???t see why they would not like it, being it goes for its own style. Sure it is anime influenced but it strays away from most of the norms.

Strange, Avatar haven't been localized in Japan yet. Unless you talking about the Japanese animated fansub fans. I need lives images of how popular it is.

No it has not been localized?? if you mean put on local TV and probably will never be.????I am not totally sure what you mean by localized, but at anime stores, video stores, undergtound, etc it has had awarm reception.?? Japanamation is not something you see on regular TV in Japan either.?? As mentioned above, I just recently moved to Germany after 5?? years of living in the Land of the Rising Sun.?? I do have a lot of friends still there, I will see what they can come up with.??

Why does everyone have to compare this to naruto? It everyone a narutard here?!? First of all Naruto is not that great, there is a long list of animes that came before it that deserve the credit for developing the animated soap opera plot structure avatar uses, not naruto!

Very true, I don???t understand why Naruto is so big. Well I knew it was going to be big in the US being they traded DBZ off for it and it fills the void left by it. But I just hate Naruto, the animation is very poor ???Not enough animation, and too much panning.??? the characters are not drawn very well, and it is just the latest ninja fan service show that will drag on. Stuff like this killed anime for me, being the animation and drawing styles never really changed, and the stories became too predicable.

Cowboy bebop, now that was an anime. I would also recommend Wolf rain, Berserk and Shingetsutan Tsukihime (Vampire moon princess), that last particularly, here is a quote:

"Did you forget? My neck, the back of my head, from my right eye to my lips, my upper right arm , my ring finger, my left elbow, a thumb, a middle finger, part of my ribs, including my heart from my chest to my abdomen, my left thigh, my left shin, my right shin, my right toes, all of that. You dismember me into 17 pieces??? instantaneously!"

No you won't hear or see that on avatar.

And why would Avatar not saying such things be a bad thing? It's great the way it is. The show doesn't need bloodshed and gore to up its ratings. Not every show needs??mature levels of violence to be "entertaining."

I was even gonna use Cowboy Bebop or maybe Ghost in the Shell but I'd rather not touch on AdultSwim material so I just went with (insert random animated series).

Yes they don't... but it always helps. Plus there is plunty of implied killing in avatar, take 'the Drill' for example, how many engineers do you think did not drown or where crushed by heavy metal?

Don't forget about the seige of the north. That things' always bugged me. Did they climb out of the water and dry themselves off or what? Anyway can't really say it always help. Some shows need it at certain times and some don't need it all. As for Avatar... I'm waitin for the second half of the third season.

I'm wondering how will they do that? Rid the world of Ozai I mean. For some reason I would see Nick pulling a stunk where Ozai is dragged off to the Spirit World and never seen again and Zuko just kind of... accepts it. You don't see him "suffering" the death of his father. He's no longer part of this world, but that doesn't mean he died.

Damn, I get the sick feeling Lu Ten might come back. The build up of??Lu Ten??and his death might be leading up to more than just Iroh's journey to the Spirit World. It reminds me of Azula in season one and look at her role in season two.

I'm not saying they need blood to get ratings. It is just that not having killing to appeal to kids programming while having an adult plot involving world conquest, war, cues and regicide makes for problems. How to kill ozai is one of them, look at when they killed admiral what-his-name, we still have people thinking he is still around somehow because they could not kill him in a convincing manner.
