But people that are already fans of "Avatar" will go see the movie and give it some good profits anyway.

Who knows? They're two different movies, two different genres. Besides, I don't really expect it to be good anyways.

I don't think it will determine the quality of the movie; he's made good movies like "The Sixth Sense".

Awww, I wanted to go see The Happening! Ahahaa. But they're two VERY different movies. Don't worry. Stay positive =]

It is too early to tell if it will effect Avatar's movie. The Happening may have turned out to be not-so-great but that could be a learning experience for the director. But we don't have enough details right now.

Doesn't Shamalanananananananabatman always get bad reviews from the critics?

I don't think "The Happening"'s rep will ruin Avatar. I'm sorry.. "The Last Airbender" .. >>

    Okay, that's getting really annoying.

Anyway, "The Village" and "Lady in the Water" got really bad reviews, and Shyamalan's still making movies.

I don't think we have to worry. Unless it's a "three strikes and you're out" deal.

Shyamalan is going to benefit exponetially from Avatar fandom's 'built-in' audience (us) for at least the first live-action movie.

No matter what most of us say we will at least go to see the first movie to see what Shyamalan did with it.

I didn't expect 'The Happening' to be good at all. Ummm how many studios passed on this movie before he finally found a home for it? Uh, several. Duh.

Who's to say it won't suck. Don't get me wrong, I'm still thankful to Shyamalan for making the movie. I'm just afraid it will be hurt by the same 2 things that caused The Village and Lady in the Water to suck:

    1. His tendency to want to take the movie into his own hands all the time.

    2. His recent inability to write convincing dialogue or good characters.

I was hoping "The Happening" would be better, and I won't judge it since I haven't seen it for myself yet, but I have seen the bad reviews.

P.S. - The Avatar fandom, while huge, isn't going to be enough to make the movie successful.

Agreed. That's why I see the release of the July 29th finale DVD as our ticket to freedom. If there is nothing else Avatar-related ever again, we have Aang's journey in full and there's nothing Nickelodeon can do about that.

How would you like your interwebz?

Anyway, M&B might be able to obtain most of the control in the writing of the movie. They already have a hand in the script so that's one of the main problems solved already.

What is with all of this Shyamalan bashing lately? I thought The Village was pretty good and Signs was excellent.

You're right but I think we're all on a 'Shyamalan, what have you done for us lately?' kick. LOL

Well I think critics are going to be EXTRA critical of The Last Airbender just because of M. Night. But you gotta remember all his other movies he has written himself. This time he actually has a good story so hopefully he can pull it off this time.

Well, M. Night Shaymin-man's [cookies for who ever gets the reference] reputation could actually be good, think, Hype is the thing that kills everything, there was a lot of hype for Brawl, didn't live to it, for the beggining of ATLA season 3, you know how much it flunked towards the big part of the fanbase on the first few days, Indiana Jones and the crystal skull, well, that was bad anyway, but the hype made it look bad, so this is what could happen "M. Night Shaylaman's "The Last Airbender" took the world by storm, after many failures from the director, this film showed an excellent plot, outstanding characters, excellent visuals and a great story, based on the Tv series, with help from the original creators, Mike and Bryan, this movie proved to be one of the greatest stories told in recent years" or "The Last Airbender, 2/5 just not good, another fail for shaylaguy, well, not that anyone cared actually"
So, it it's win, it would surprise anyone and go beyond expectations, since there won't be many expectations from the general public, and if it's phail, nobody will even care, so no bad name for the series.

Rerference=Digimon? And yea I agree with what you say, either it'll be amazing and Shaylaman will redeem himself, or it'll be bad and people would be like "meh who cares, that was expected". And you know the latest Yu-Gi-Oh AS is out right?
