i think the movie will turn out okay, even though some of his movies get bad reviews atleast he's trying, and i hope he doesn't dissapoint us. But all i hate is that the voices for the characters wont be the same

    M. Night's most recent film is one of those "You love it or you hate it" type films.

If you love suspense, dark mood, and watching people commit suicide (me all over), The Happening is the movie for you.

Don't like any of that stuff, don't watch it.

Reviewers nowadays hate anything that lacks a climatic fight sequence and actors that frequent the tabloids.

Plus "Hulk" came out the same day.

Hey guys, what's Happening in this thread?

    Yeah...best joke evar...yeah.

XD god, that was so bad...

Well, M. Night Shaymin-man's [cookies for who ever gets the reference] reputation could actually be good, think, Hype is the thing that kills everything, there was a lot of hype for Brawl, didn't live to it, for the beggining of ATLA season 3, you know how much it flunked towards the big part of the fanbase on the first few days, Indiana Jones and the crystal skull, well, that was bad anyway, but the hype made it look bad, so this is what could happen "M. Night Shaylaman's "The Last Airbender" took the world by storm, after many failures from the director, this film showed an excellent plot, outstanding characters, excellent visuals and a great story, based on the Tv series, with help from the original creators, Mike and Bryan, this movie proved to be one of the greatest stories told in recent years" or "The Last Airbender, 2/5 just not good, another fail for shaylaguy, well, not that anyone cared actually"
So, it it's win, it would surprise anyone and go beyond expectations, since there won't be many expectations from the general public, and if it's phail, nobody will even care, so no bad name for the series.
Rerference=Digimon? And yea I agree with what you say, either it'll be amazing and Shaylaman will redeem himself, or it'll be bad and people would be like "meh who cares, that was expected". And you know the latest Yu-Gi-Oh AS is out right?
    No.
    Good to know someone agrees
Why of course, i wouldn't be an obssesed fan if i didn't saw it 35-60 minutes after it was posted

Personally, i absolutely despise Shylaman. I believe he is just so bad at directing films. His work for me is boring and a waste of time, for example, Signs. It bores you half to death then comes out with a 5 second piece of action that pulls the audience back in at the end of the film. Lady In The Water, because i found out he was the director i didnt bother, and The Happening, well, this is the outcome. I am now quite worried about avatar and have been for a long time. I dont think you can capture a cartoon in a live action movie such as Dragonball in the first place but putting shylaman in the directors chair also puts the icing on what i think will be a very bad cake.

he can't dare mess up. there are millions of avatards, if the movie is panned by critics, we'll just stage a revolt against Night for doing such a crappy job. I just can't watch my favorite show helplessly collapse because of this director. he will do fine, and he must not disappoint us. Long live Avatar! Long live Bryke! Long live Ba Sing Se!

It was alright; much better than Iron Man. The Dark Knight will kick its ass though.

On topic: the last airbender will not need good reviews, the chances of critics being fans of the show are slim; the corporate strategy will- 1) Be profitable for Nick eg. McDonald's toys and other merchandise. 2) Be able to please its core fanbase(us).

    Nick's plan:

    1. Sweep Avatar into a corner.
    2. Burnoff.
    3. Milk Live Action movies for all they're worth.
    4. ???
    5. Profit.

Actually, that's wrong, the mystery stage 4 is not necessary, stage 3 leads straight into stage 5.

    Oh really?

That's good, Burger King makes better toys than McDonald's. Pokemon for example; the toys were at Burger King and they were super special awesome.

    No, srsly. They were.

Yeah, but McDonald's had those Sonic video games. It made my child/preteen dream come true. Although, they did suck.
